i have a new xmag and have only played three days with it and found that the clear urethane washer(bumper) at the base of power tube is already ripping The inside area of the washer(the part that encircles the power tube) has actually deteriorated around the power tube.is this common for a gun that has ony 8000 shots on it. Also can i just use the regular blue bumper washer without damage to my gun?Aside from that I must say that I am extremely happy with this gun. I actuaaly feel like im cheating when i play with it, because its so fast ,responsive and accurite.m truly amazed.

Level 10 seems to eat at them pretty quick for some reasons. One of them being that cut spring if that is the one your using now. It is best to keep some on hand. However that being said there seem to be good ones and bad ones. I run across one every once in a while that lasts forever and then another that doesn't. I do not know why. But I suggest you pick up a pack of them and check them every time out. It's a wear item that needs to be checked.

This is a tech forum thing, but I'll reply anyway.
First off, avoid the blue bumpers. The clear ones are stronger.
Second, its a fairly well-known issue that with Level 10 and a retro, your bumper will wear a lot faster. You should make your bumper part of your routine maintenance if you have an LX mag with a retro valve.

The difference between blue and clear isn't so much strength as resilience.
At one time Tom Kaye showed me a stack, literally a half in thick of papers that were reports of lab tests they had done which showed the energy absorbtion and "bounceback" energy of bolts against a myriad of bumper materials. The key in choosing that clear material was how it absorbed energy from the bolt slamming back, without bouncing it too hard forward against the sear.
When I put Lvl10 in my RT that had pretty much sat on the shelf since I got my E-Mag, I found that the clear bumper had deteriorated to the consistency of putty :-( I assume that to be an interaction with oil, but I believe I've only ever used Autolube on my RT. No biggie, I replaced it, I figure after 6 years I could consider it a "wear item."

I found the same thing with lvl 10. I went through 2 clear bumpers just during the testing and first use of it. I switched to the blue (all I had at the time) and the problem seems to have gone away.
Was this a bad idea? Should I keep tring to use the clear ones?
