Need Minimag/classic lvl 7 valve help

i got my automag from a guy back east in new york about 2 months ago(traded '98 cocker) and about every ten shots if i don't let the trigger go fast enough it sputters and shoots twice and chops a ball. i am using HPA, but used it on co2 only once. i need to know possible tips and or solutions to my problem i.e. the on/off valve etc.
    thank you for the help

the on/off assy needs to be either in the on position or the off position.if you release the trigger slowly you are open the air flow w/o locking the bolt back with the sear so the gun sputters.

learning to shoot amag well tkes a little time, concetrate on getting a full, solid squeeze of the trigger and a crisp, THOROUGH release of he trigger and you should be fine.

when you gass up the gun, check the trigger rod. make sur thre is a sixteenth of an inch between the back f the trigger and the rod when you not touching the trigger. if you replaced all the o-rings that came with that kit then just give yourselfa little time and some practice and you shoul be o.k.

Sounds like you just need to get used to shooting a 'Mag!! At the same time, disassemble, clean and oil the valve to make sure your on/off pin does not bind, and practice, practice, practice!!! Hope this helps!!

well thats the thing i thought it was just because mags are like that and i know that u have to not "short stroke" and i never did short stroke it did this wheather or not i let the trigger go fast or slow. but anywho i borrowed a video from my local shop and rebuilt my power tube and on/off valve and also put the new spring in and it kicks major ***. i had a '98 cocker before this marker and let me tell you this gun rips like no other i was shooting like 4-6 bps and that is hella fast for me. i was impressed to say the least.

Also could be cause of the frame. Next time you goto that shop where you got the video, see if they will let you put on the Intelli-frame and see how you like that. If if feels the same as the dye or if you dont feal like getting it...So be it... I'd just as soon see you try it.

Check the condition of the sear tip. If it is worn, it will cause problems like you are experiencing and should be replaced. Also check that the valve field strip screw is tight. If it bottoms out before the valve is tight in the body, it has the same effect as the worn sear tip and will double fire.

Minimags are 4 star valves not 3. You have a classic 3 star valve. The stars don't mean much because mags never break down anyway.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

actually classic valves are only 1 star and micro's are 3 stars. when you say "sear tip" what do you mean? the part that the trigger itself touches?

No, the sear tip is what catches the bolt and holds it back.

                      oh ok
well i watched the video and it said that the bolt edge is designed to wear out before the sear does and i checked both to make sue if that was the problem but it is fine

Actually, classics had 1 star, classic powerfed mags had 3 stars, minimags had 4 stars. I'm snot sure what micros had. I think they are 3 stars. All classics sold now are 1 star, even the powerfed mags.

Check your bolt spring. It should extend about 1/4" past the bolt tip when on the bolt. If it is short, indicating a worn spring, you may be experiencing bolt stick which could cause your gun to "cough" while rapid firing.
