    Field Strip Screw & Xvalve??

Are there varying length field strip screws for the different valves (xvalve, rt valve, classic)? I ask because I "went retro" and traded my old classic valve (minimag ser# 8000ish) and when I put the new xvalve in, the field strip screw did not thread in far enough - was about 1/16" short, so the valve would move around.
I solved this with an additional oring on the screw to take up the slack, but seems maybe the threaded hole on the valve was not made deep enough. Maybe the older valves and screws were different in depth/length...

Anyone have any insight on this?

all the same screw. There is supposed to be a flat palstic washer on it to...is that there?

Yup - original washer is there. This is the same screw that I used previously (i.e. 2 weeks ago) when I played with the mag/old valve, and it has always threaded in perfectly. The only new piece is the xvalve and now doesn't screw in all the way.

The Oring I put on it does appear to solve the problem, but I have yet to take the xvalve on the field to play, so who knows...

With the valve out, thread in the field strip screw into the valve and see how far it goes in. It should go in to the point that all of the threads are in the hole. If some threads are sticking out, it won't hurt to grind down the tip of the field strip screw. The threads in the X-Valve might just be tight.

Pulled out the valve and did as suggested. there are 2-3 threads still exposed. I tested the depth of the hole just in case the threads were tight. nope. the screw is going in as far as it possibly can. Seems this particular valve was not drilled out far enough.
Sooo, Is it enough a problem for me to send back? nope - I can live with it for now. I may drop it off at the AGD table at Madness & see if they can address the issue there.

Sunday finally was able to get to the field & play with the new toy. The screw issue posed no problems as yet. Must say VERY sweet! gone is the old clunky classic mag trigger; now have a snappy fast xvalve trigger. Although i STILL have irregular velocity (+-15fps & can't figure out why...) Figure since I've got to wait another 5+ months for my xmag to be ready, might as well dump $$ into the old reliable.
          Next: intelliframe.

          Thanks for the replies!

I too went x-valve, and my classic field strip screw only fits into the x-valve about 3/4 of a turn! Would've been nice to know I'd need a new one ahead of time. Even had the forethought to call on the phone and ask, but was told I'd be fine with what I had. Must be the threads, or something. Guess I'll order one for the ReTro. Here comes another $8, Tom! How about including an aluminum one?
