k i was told to purchase a certain wall adapter plug in from radio shack,,,,,,,,,,,,,1500 mA 12v #273-1779,,,,,,just wondering if it would hurt my battery/battery charger in any way? It has the exact tip as the car charger that goes into the battery charger. Please help.

You didnt have your plug tips polarity correct.
If you look at teh cord on the wall wart and the tip you will see a + on teh cord and a TIP on the M plug, you need to have the tip with a + Polarity or you kill the charger.
