    Emag battery charger

Is there a charger I can use other than the AGD on my Emag battery? I need a charger but $80 from the AGD shop is a little steep. Does Radio Shack make one I can use?

If you can find a charger that is designed for charging 18v NiMH batteries it will work. Just make sure it has 650mA charge capability and will properly terminate the charge once completed. Nickle based batteries don't like to be overcharged.

The AGD charger has a built in DC - Dc converter so it will work on 12v input plus it incorporates a charge controller to prevent overcharging and is specifically designed to maximize the life cycle of the emag battery packs. That's why you pay the big bucks for it.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Does any one have a model number or manufacturer of a charger I can use?

I got a model 273-1776 from Radio Shack. It plugs into the wall and has a long cord with a receptacle at the end. It comes with a free Adaptaplug. That's a 90 degree adapter with two prongs on one end that plugs into the wall charger's receptacle, and the other end pulgs into the AGD charger. You'll want the "M" style Adaptaplug, it's got an "M" stamped on it. Then, insert the Adaptaplug so that the "+" on the Adaptaplug lines up with "TIP" that's stamped on the receptacle.

But I would still need the AGD charger? not sure I'm understanding correctly... "and the other end pulgs into the AGD charger" that part is confusing me.

I have another question, I have an Angel IR3 charger, if I use gator clips and hook them up to the wires on the Emag battery would that work?

The AGD charger is that little thing that mounts to the top of the E-mag battery and makes contact with the battery. It can be seen at:

What?!!! $80.00 for that? They must be trying to recover alot of NRE. You might want to take your battery to Radio Shack. They should be able to provide you something alot more reasonably priced. Might require some alligator clips.

The price for the charger is all labor to assemble it. AGD is not trying to rip you off, just trying to make sure it's built right.
