    pressing barrel causes leak

I have the level 10 setup on a minimag and everything is working well. I just discovered that if I put a little upward pressure on the front of the barrel a leak is created. I can hear it at the powerfeed. I seem to recall reading about this in the past but my eyes are falling out trying to read all of the posts so I figured if I wanted good enough vision to play this weekend I should just post a new thread. I can give all the particulars of my setup if necessary, just let me know. Thanks

The end of your barrel is interacting with your bolt. When you push up on the tip of the barrel it's causing the back to press down on the bolt. This is causing the o-rings in the powertube) to not seal properly thus...a leak. The best way to avoid this leak is to not press up on the tip of your barrel.

I have experienced the same effect. When you move the barrel it makes contact with the bolt ever so slightly. You can put a wrap of tape in the barrel o-ring grooves under the o-rings to remove some of the side to side (or up and down) movement. Then use a slightly tighter carrier so that any minimal movement won't result in a leak.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
