EMag Battery wont hold much of a charge.

My E-Mag is about a year and a half old. I play with it once a week. It will charge but I only get about half a day of play out of it before it runs out. I used to get about 3 days of play out of the battery. I thought the EMag battery was the kind that didn't have a memory. Anyone else have battery not charging problems? Will airgun replace it under the warranty?

    Thanks

first thing to do, is let it charge for 8 hours. The LEDs on the battery charger are notoriously bad. Let it charge for 8 hours. if you are still getting only 1-2000 balls, then check your voltage with a multimeter when your battery is full(after you charged 8 hours). If its not ~15+ volts, youre not getting a full charge and need a new battery

anything over 4hours is overkill and could hurt the battery. when charged it should be 17-20v.

Charging the battery longer than 4 hrs wont hurt it. I have been charging mine overnight for almost 2 yrs. Voltage immediately after charging is 20+ volts on mine.

Will it continue to charge after the light turns green?

it will continue charging, the LED is just an indicator.

tunaman: i suspect it wont hurt the battery enough to worry about in an emag, but NiMH are fairly sensitive to overcharging. although, as long as it doesnt get hot (or even real warm) you should be OK. NiMH cells get warm only when they are being overcharged, and it isnt very good for them.

i think the charger is slow enough that it shouldnt hurt it though, as Tom wouldnt want to have to deal with too many fried batteries.

the LED is pretty much worthless. Charge the battery for 8 hours and then see how long it holds its charge....
