    Dynaflow reg busted...

My buddy has a 88/4500 dynaflow and the dovetail on the top is busted. Well that's part of the whole reg assembly. Unfortunately the tank is out of warranty date (it's about 3 years old I think). Is this the same reg he needs?

rather then having him purchase a whole new tank just get that and have the pro shop put it together for him?

Let me guess, he had it mounted on a Shocktech or similiar drop? The dovetail began to crack away from the top of the reg? Most drops are made slightly under spec and in the case of the Dynaflow it can cause the rail to start cracking. Centerflag has a list of approved drops on their site.

As for fixing it mine was'nt under warrenty but the guy I sold it to managed to get it fixed for free. I was told it would be $75 before I sold it. Either way you'd probably be better, sending it in to Centerflag to have it fixed.

Like I said, it happened to me, Wynn's started to crack at the SC AO meet. Josh Silverman also said that a few of his buddies started to have the same problem. Contact Centerflag about drops that'll work. I know the CP and similiar rail drops should work fine. I would avoid Shocktech drops on Dynaflows. Eventually it'll happen.

Not sure that PBgear is listing the correct regulator. It might be a Hyperflow 200 series regulator, which doesn't have a apoc/geddon rail, but uses a different mount.

I'd call 'em up and make sure.

                  I said "or similiar drop".

The Dye rails could be made to the same specs as the Shocktech drops. I have a CP drop that seems a little fatter than my shocktech so those may be on the "approved list" Rail's seem to be fine since they take up more of the Dynaflows dovetail and disperse the stress a bit more. Just a friendly heads up. Centerflag does have the warning on their site, so I'm not making this up.

Your stillprobabaly going to come out better by sending the tank back to Centerflag for the reg replacement surgery. You may spend a little more in shipping but you know it'll come back working. And from what I understand those regs are a complicated, frustrating thing to work on.

I sent mine in a few weeks ago. It's getting a new reg body, hydro and full overhaul. So we'll see how well it works when I get it back.
The newer dyna's now have a little more meat on the dovetail, that will supposedly help out.

sorry, forgot to check back on this one. I'm not sure of how much it's gonna be, they haven't called me with a price yet. Maybe I'll call them on lunch.
