    dang dye grip frame...

Okay, so I am finishing up my pump mag (Thanks SilverFox!), and gas it up to test (dry) fire. nothing. when I screwed in the co2 (12 gram to asa adaptor), it acted as though it gassed up. The seer/trigger rod seemed to be stiffer, but nothing...

dumped the 12 gram and tried to remove the valve. aughghg - it is stuck. turns out that the valve did actuate and the on/off pin was sticking through the hole in teh bottom of the body.

Not thinking much about it, I then swapped back to semi-parts and tried again - arghghg - same thing (including having to remove the body so I can remove the valve, because of the on/off pin issue.

I just know this thing used to work, I jsut bought the parts used and built a simple PF mag with it a couple months ago! BUT, I had an Intelliframe then, so I went to my box-o-mag-stuff and pulled new blade intelli (reserved for a sluggo xvalve project), and tried it (still with semi-auto parts, no pump kit) - woohoo!! it works!

Well, that verified that the valve and all parts work, except the pump kit and the dye trigger frame.

I double and tripple checked the PDF, Muzicmans website and other AO sources ofr the pumpkit info. I had everything correct, then reinstalled the pump kit and the dye frame.

nothing. this time, since I knew that everything was supposed to work and I was very confident about my pump kit setup, I took a closer look at the dye double trigger frame. Nothin' out of the ordinary. I did notice that the trigger rod didn't seem to stick out as much as it did on the intelli, though.

DUH... so I used a flat piece of metal (ruler) and stuck it in between the rod and trigger and pulled - woohoo, it fired! the rod wasn't comming out far enough! After a bit of trial and error with adjusting the length of that trigger rod, I discovered that I needed to add approximately 2-3 mm to get it to actuate with the dye frame.

Since I am newly comming back to mags (since the LX, I had mags back in the early 90s, and left the paintblendes behind in the middle 90's), I don't know if this is a common thing or just my particular challenge, but just wanted to share my experience with everyone.

The DYE frames are not warrentied by AGD for that very reason. They are not made to specification so to get them to work right requires the trigger rod to be adjusted. Try and get a 1/16"(credit cards thickness) gap between the trigger rod and the back of the trigger(when gassed up).

another issue that may need to be addressed...
I have found that the sear(trigger rod part) may actually hit the inside of the frame. Take a look and make sure the sear isn't rubbing in there. If it is, just dremel out a little ramp....takes 5 minutes.

I had a dye frame, mym problem was that the trigger wasnt going all the way back, same deal. Well I cut giant slits in the frame, cut the trigger in half, and it still didnt work. Adjusted the rod and the timming got screwy because the bolt release on the trigger is perfect or near but the on/off isnt obviously.

Get a new frame, until then you can take the double off the Dye and put it on your stock, works pretty good.

Well, seems like I had all the problems...
I had to dremmel a bit so it wasn't rubbing (not much, but it did rub), and the length issue, I had resolved. I used my metal ruler for a spacer (about the same as a credit card), and now works great.

I didn't really want to use any of my intelli's on this particular project, I have plans for them on other things I am working on. It was either the dye double trigger or a stock single, the dye "looks" better on the pumper and besides it makes it unique having a doubsle trigger on a pumper!

Thanks for all the help, I plan on putting together a kind of review with pictures of what I went through with this, so that others can glean from it when building pump-mags.

                bwahahaha - good one!
actually, for that very reason, I tried everythgin else first, since I assumed that the rod wasn't the problem!
