    Leak out of the back...

Hey guys and gals, well I just got a Pro Team Micromag about a month ago in a trade and now I just fixed it(had to get a o-ring and new drop forward). Now tonight I put in my nitrogen tank and I was about half way done screwing it in when air starting blowing out the back like crazy. I mean really crazy! It was blowing papers and pencils against the wall and it was also whistling from so much air coming out. Now I took off the back part and there appeared to be a lot of gunk on the back piece, so I cleaned that out and it still is shooting out a lot of air. I mean I lost like 200 psi in about 5 seconds! I'm really afriad to screw my tank in all the way since I think the valve will just shoot out and kill someone.

I'm a newb to mags and so far all I've had is just problems.... :o

Oh yeah it is also pretty old-serial number in the 2,000's I believe-that seems old to me I guess? Some rust on the bolt and sear, etc and it has 3 stars on it.

Its a good possibility that dirt is causing your problems. My advice would be to totally dissassemble the valve and replace all the o-rings. That way you will start off fresh and clean.

Is the valve a genuine micromag valve or a 3 star classic valve? I'm guessing is is a micromag valve based on the serial number because the automag valves with serial numbers in the 2000 range did not have stars. The micromag valves have "Micromag" engraved on the back of the valve I believe.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Sounds like one of two things, maybe a combination...

#1 - Velocity turned up too high. Remove the tank, unscrew the back of the valve until the adjusting nut come out of the regulator body. Now put it back in hand tight. Screw in your tank. Does air shoot out the back now? If not, chrono your gun. You'll want to tighten that Vel Adjusting nut to raise the FPS of the gun.

#2 - If air begins to blow out of the back before you get to the desired FPS speed, you'll need to call AGD and order a new Regulator Piston. They updated them a while back.

      Good Luck!

Oh so you tighten it to raise the fps?? I man I'm a freakin idiot. I would put the nut in, then get the allen wrench and really tighten it up since I thought if it was loose that the parts would fly out backwards. Doh! I'll try this tonight.

        Thanks.

haha, yeah. think of it this way, you screw it IN. now make beleive its like a spyder type. your compressing the spring a little so theres more force when its cocked, then will hit harder on the seal with you fire.

probably not the best example, but thats what i thought of when i was chronoing one time.
