my last straw with level 10

ok.. i have a big leak down the barrel with LX using no shims, and the smallest carrier, the one with no dots or rings, and lots of oil on the orings. any suggestions why its leaking. its on a retro valve and im using the sear that came with my classic, could that be why?

i would try other setups with different carriers, but im almost positive that wouldnt help the leak down the barrel. ive also tried 2 shims and 1 shim on the setup above

Have you tried a different o-ring that came with the kit? Maybe the one you are using is just too far out of spec. The classic sear is the correct one for the retro valve. The one that came with my xvalve matched the one in my 97' minimag. It had some excess material removed but was the same where it contacted the bolt, on/off, and frame.

have you tried starting over with a different o-ring?

I had a similar issue with one of my mags with Rt valve and LX; and when I used a different o-ring, I ended up using the 0 carrier (no lines, no dots), and 2 shims with no leaks now - woot, woot!

I've also come across an oring that wouldn't work no matter what. It always leaked after awhile. You could get it to stop with A LOT of oil, but it started leaking after a short period of time. I used on of the orings from my kit (this was someone else's) and it worked fine.
