    Air question- how many shots can I expect

    I'm just getting back into paintball after a 5 year layoff, and our team has dusted off our mags. Just before we stopped playing I'd purchased a Govnair 0.9L (55 Cubic Inch) 3000psi air system, which I never used.

    I've checked the gun over using what CO2 I have left and it works fine, but if I use the Govnair I'll have to wait until we get on site to fill it, so I'm trying to decide whether to stick with CO2 or set the gun up for air....

    So, how many shots roughly can I expect from a standard Level 7 automag with a 3000psi 45 cubic inch tank? I've got a range of barrels, but will probably use my 14" All American teardop (9" unported) if that makes a difference.

    I'm also planning on going Level 10, maybe before we play. How badly does it affect efficiency?

    you are also going to need to have your tank hydro'd. I am sure after 5 years in the closet, it is expired. no field or store will fill it.

      Took it to a dive shop, they handed it back and said aluminium tanks under 1 litre don't need hydro testing....? Are they talking bo**ocks?

          Here is a formula on figuring out how many shots you can get from a compressed air tank.

          You multiply the ci or size of the tank by the pressure.

          3000psi = 10
          4500psi = 15

          So in your case,

          45 X 10 = 450 shots out of your compressed air tank. I beleive this is right...

            OK thanks for that, I guess the answer is: Not Many!

            Time to hunt around for a decent secondhand tank methinks. Seems they go for bargain prices on this forum compared to over here in the UK. Has anyone had any experience of shipping Air tanks overseas- I seem to remember airlines are pretty touchy about flying with them..... anyone had problems?

              I am not sure about that......I think they have to be opened up to the atmostfere to be airfreight. I know on my scuba and HPA tank I got they had to send it ground.

                  no, that formula does not apply, it's more than that.
