    lvl10/x-valve

I'm having some problems with my lvl 10 on my new X-valve.
I put it together using the .5 spacer and two shims. It works great until I chrono it, I keep getting shots in the mid 200's. Should I add shims, remove shims, or change the carrier? My thumbs are getting sore from all the times I've taken this thing apart. Any suggestions?

Well, first of all. Use the largest carrier that doesn't leak. (Here's the test. Put the oring in the carrier.Slide the carrier, oring first, onto the bolt stem and dangle the bolt from the carrier. Give it a shake. If it doesn't fall off, but kinda wiggles, it's good. If it falls off, too loose, doesn't move at all, too tight.)

Next, what spring are you using? The longer the spring, the higher you have to crank your velocity to counteract the force of the spring on the bolt.

Also, make sure the sucker is oiled. Lastly- here's a tip for getting the carrier out. Take the field strip screw that holds the valve in. Thread that into the powertube and make sure it's in the carrier/oring. Give it a tug. Out it comes.

I took out the long spring and put in the middle spring and No more velocity problem. What are the diffrences in performance between the long spring and middle spring?

Performance wise as in will it chop a ball? No. Not even the short spring will. As for velocity- it should keep you right around 280 or a little below. If you have the need to go higher, switch the small spring in.

Now- just an FYI- after about half a case or so, your oring may develop a small leak. (If you hear it, put your finger in the breach and move the bolt around a little. If the leak changes tone, it's the oring.) This is perfectly NORMAL. The oring is just wearing in. All you need to do is change down to the next size carrier.

When playing in cold weather, I found that running oil through it every tank change can prevent some bolt stick problems.

Uh Oh I'm getting around 300 fps with the middle spring, is that a potential problem?

Nah. Not a problem at all.

Go show your friends. Stick your finger in there and pull that trigger!
