first serious gun - this or that - opinions plz

Hi all - This my first post - so B nice

I played paintball a few times - maad fun. I met these guys and they want me on their team, now i got this tournament to go to, and lots of practicing to do. So i dont get my Arse clipped this spring.

Anyhow Ive only had a bunch of cheapie guns before. I need something good that i will take care of and vice versa. So, I have been going to some shops and doing some research and i found 2 guns i like. Both are autocockers, i like the idea of a flat trajectory and good range. Not to mention the exposed moving parts. One is a Black Magic with no barrel or hopper or air for 400. The other is an Orracle with a boomstick (original barrel inc.) and a 12V revvy, and no air. That one is 700. What do you guys think? Both seem like good deals. But will I (a noob) notice a difference between the 2 guns? I know i can prolly upgrade the one later, but the Orracle is a year newer, has a nicer body, and easier to get timing right..

Any thoughts or advise would be most apprecitated- Thanks in advance.

autocockers are notoriously hard to take care of. you have to time them and its damn near impossible to take them apart all at once. and i dont really see the advantage that they suposedly have, range is the same for all paintball markers shooting the same velocity. if you have a talon shooting 300 f.p.s and the pimpest cocker in the world shooting 300 f.p.s both are gonna launch the ball the same distance, even though the talon will obviously make it curve like crazy. plus you have to be able to pull the trigger the correct way for a cocker or you will short stroke it, this is very hard to get used to.

on the other hand with a mag you have a great tourny gun, the consistant velocity of a mag will greatly increase accuracy. with a mag you wont have to worry about short stroking, timing, and having to lug your marker to an air smith every day. not to mention mags are small and fairly light, and the stock trigger is pretty decent. i just played a tourny with the mag described in my sig (minus the warp, its in the mail right now) and it was just as accurate as an cocker, angel, timmy, martrix or whatever else there. get a mag, you'll be glad you did.
