    E-Mag Switch On/Off Question

OK, so during my last trip to RadioShack, I picked up a SPST Submini PC Board Toggle Switch. It says it's rated at 3A at 125VAC. My hand-dandy Digital Multimeter says my E-Mag battery is puttin out 3.1A.

Will this switch work for an E-Mag on/off? Is the .1A too much for this little switch to handle? Any suggestions? What switch is used on the Extremes and SFLs?

Tom, Rob, Jon, anyone wanna help me out?

    Thanks ~ Dave

    should work.

the switch on the x-mag is actually just a wimpy little switch that trips a relay, which is what actually does the heavy lifting.

It will burn out fast. On the Xmag they use the switch to turn a transistor on and off and it is mounted on the ace board.

if it is rated for 3A and you are going to exceed that, it will not last long. most of the time in electronics, you want your devices to exceed maximum posible by about 20% or about 3.72 A in your case. a 4 or 5 amp switch would be better.

RadioShack has this one: Catalog #: 275-634

6 amp at 125VAC and 1/4" mounting hole. HTH.
          My feedback.
