I found that a little bit of oil rubbed on the outsides of all of them did the trick. When I first got them they were gritty and dry. I washed them all with soap and hot water and dried them and smeared a finger wet with Marker oil allover the outsides of them fixed it right up.

I dunno about any stuck ones. I am thinking maybe there is paint dried in between them and the base. Can get in through the Freak cut outs. And if it dries its like glue. Try soaking it in warm soapy water for an hour or so to soften up the dried paint. Agitate them from time to time. That should do it.

I use a cable squeegie with a swab end. The swab at the end gets wedged into the insert and I pull it out gently and evenly.

Out on the field I use a smaller cable squeegie (no swab - only the o-rings) to actually clean the freak barrel.

Sounds like you guys have inserts that are a lot harder to get out than mine. All I have to do is stick my pinky in there and pop the insert out. Don't have to lubricate the exterior of the insert up or anything.

its basically like cphillip said i have left the insert in for to long and i believe grit and paint have gotten between them, but i have an idea on how to get it out although i am going to try several of your suggestions first i will have to go to the local shop and borrow a cable squegee i have a straight shot and it wouldn't grab it hard enough, the barrel plug is a good idea i'll try that.
            thanks,

I'm pretty sure a long warm soak in soapy water will make it all better. Does me anyway!

                  This might work.
First soak the back in hot water, the hotter the better.
Then take it out and put some chipped/shredded ice into the insert.
Theoretically it should just slide out since you've expanded the back, and contracted the insert.

                    Freak

Is base of your Freak stainless ? If so you should just have to put it under very hot or boiling water. Since the base is stainless and the insert is aluminum they will expand at different rates and should come apart. Aside from that their is a mechanics tool that will remove it but it will wreak the insert. If you decide to get it out at all costs message me and I'll explain how the tool works(don't know what it's called)

ok i got it, this is how just in case anyone is curious, i took a 1 1/2" thick piece of rubber and cut out a circle the size of the inner diameter of the insert ( a doorhole saw works well for this but you may have to do some sanding afterwards to make it fit). then i took a peice of althread size probably about 3/8" by 6" long and pushed the althread through the peice of rubber and placed a nut on the end then on the opposite end i used a peice of PVC that was about 3" long ( just big enough to go over the althread but not big enough to touch the inner dimensions of the barrel) then after the PVC i put another nut to tighten with and on the end i placed 2 nuts on the very end of the althread and locked them against each other). now sliding this contraption in the insert that is stuck in the barrel i hold one of the very end locked nuts and tighten the nut that is directly against the PVC so it will in turn sqeeze the rubber and cause it to expand and now simply pull the contraption back out and with it comes the insert, loosen and their i have it.
i then cleaned and oiled it all up good so this won't happen again but if it does i now know how to get it out.
                      thanks for all your help.

Cool! Good lesson here from this I think is to remove the insert and clean after playing each time. I will have to start doing that myself.
