RT Pro won't fire

I just got my RT Pro (used) and when I gassed it up all it did was vent gas out the barrel, a lot of it. Pulling the trigger wouldn't do anything. I figured it was an O-ring and I have a Level 10 to put in it so I put that in and got it so that it wouldn't vent any gas but it still won't fire. I have some pressure on the trigger (I'm assuming its full pressure) but when I pull the trigger nothing happens, bolt doesn't move, nadda. I took the Level 10 out and put it back the old way and it just vents gas again. I'm pretty sure that my problem isn't with the Level 10, any idea's on what it is and what my next steps should be?

Start with turning in your velocity adjuster some and see if you get any reasponce from doing that.

I've tried that to no avail. When I turn it all the way up I leak air out the back and when I turn it down either to a reasonable velocity (I'm guessing) or all the way down I hear a very slow leak out the back, not a lot but just enough to make noise.

A couple of our team guns had exactly this problem- they fired fine, then we insstalled the Lev 10 kits, then they didn't fire. We went back to a normal L7 setup and two of them still didn't fire. In both cases replacing the reg spring pack fixed them. Both mags had been sitting around for several years (they both got new spares kits installed)

The only explanation I can think of is that because the Lev 10 requires more velocity, i.e. you need to crank the adjuster up, this put a lot of stress on the old spring packs and they died, although visually they looked fine. Obviously in your case you will have the retro style dual reg springs, but maybe the same principle applies.

If anyone has a better explanation I'd be interested....

Before you write the spring pack off try completely stripping the valve and regulator, scrupulously cleaning everything and reassembling with new seals (and light grease on the spring pack).

I'll do that, what kind of grease do I use (first mag I've owned).

Any idea's what it would be if the springs and everything else are ok? Does this sound more like a Valve or Regulator problem? Now that you bring up the Regulator, that's where I'm always getting a slight air leak, it gets louder when I crank up the velocity but even when I turn the velocity all the way down I still have a faint leak.

Personally I use Moybdenum Disulphide grease because it's good in "dry" situations but most high melting point greases should work.

First clean everything, if you're still getting the leak then suspect the reg spring pack. I reckon if the srping pack was shot you would get a leak since the regulator piston would force the pack back further than usual, simulating the conditions of overpressure...... anyone feel free to corect me here if I'm talking rubbish however.

As I say, do a strip and clean first with new O rings and seals before you write any parts off.

In fact, change your regulator piston O ring before anything else... a shot o-ring would also cause a leak.

Ok, the Regulator Piston o-ring needed cleaning and re-oiling (didn't have new o-ring, parts kit on the way). After I did this it stopped leaking out the back, but still won't fire. Probably the 2 springs then, huh?

P.S. Also wanted to state that I was in error, its just an RT, not an RT Pro.

Being that the gun is used, check to make sure that there is a gap between the trigger and the trigger rod when the gun is gassed up. If there is not, then someone messed with the trigger rod length. If you do not have a gap big enough to put a business card in, shorten the trigger rod until the gun fires.
