No carriers work, all vent out either back hole or side hole of the valve (x-valve)at all veloticty settings. My velocity adjuster thing is on the verge of being stripped it seems like and I've gone through 2SCUBA tanks of air to try to fix this bugger. Any ideas? I also had someone say it may be the reg piston? If I knew what that was maybe I could figure it out or get a new one?

I'm not up on my SCUBA tanks (even though I am certified) but my only guess would be that your PSI Output on your tanks are too high for the marker. My suggestion would be to either A) Use a comp air tank specifically for the sport of paintball or B) Buy a Palmer Stabilizer or other regulator to crank the pressure way down. But, like I said I don't really know, that's just what it sounds like to me. Good luck! All YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO USComment

Hopefully he means scuba tanks of air that he uses to fill his N2 tanks
Anyways reg piston is the normal venting issue but be sure and check your soft seals as well (there are plenty of orings in the valve to)
Good luck!

Do NOT add another regulator to the mix. Reg on gun is 1. Tank reg is #2. Adding another one in will add problems you don't want. (And yes, he's most likely filling his tanks off the SCUBA tanks)
Please- let us know your Level 10 setup before we can help you more.

I followed the instructions via the site, used the carriers/springs/shims that would allow me to shoot or at least gas up. I used all the combinations that shoudl theoretically work. I don't actually have a lvl 10 setup if it isn't actually set up.All Black Automag

maybe you need to try using a different oring.
Did ALL the carriers leak out the back when you turned up the velocity? What sping are you using (use the shortest one first until you get that to work)?
So, can you get the marker to fire with the shortest spring, and the largest carrier that does not leak? Or, can you not find a carrier that doesn't leak (out the front, BEFORE turning up the velocity)?

If it doesn't leak out the back it leaks out the side hole. If it doesn't leak then it won't fire...All Black Automag

That sounds like the reg. piston needs to be replaced. The over pressure valve is venting too soon.Originally posted by Hemorrhage

Here is a Retro/RT Reg Piston (not sure if they work for X-valves)...
Here is a exploded view of your AIR Valve...
As you can see, the reg piston is the brass colored piece that goes in the back of your AIR Valve that is in front of the regulator springs.
Also note that I only have experience with the Classic 68 AIR Valve but I think that is what you were asking about. Also if you order a new one from AGD, let them know that you have a Lvl 10, it is leaking before the gun will fire at normal velocities, and that you need the "highest" pressure reg piston.
I recently had my old reg piston break and I bought a new one from my local pro shop. I think they gave me a older high pressure one so it would leak before it would fire at normal speeds. I searched these forums and contacted AGD to find out that they make a "high" and "higher" pressure reg piston. One is made for CO2 and one is made for HPA. Also with lvl 10s you need a higher pressure for the gun to even fire. (some of this info may be wrong since this is off the top of my head but it should be very close)
AGD has the best customer support that I know since they even tested the reg piston that I ordered to make sure that it would work with a lvl 10 before shipping it to me.Camo Green MicroMag #CF33558

So I have to replace a part that was defective when I got it? Is that what I'm understanding? Cause I didn't pay 225 plus S&H just to pay for because they sent me a faulty reg piston. Also is that the correct reg piston for the X-valve? Anyone else know? All Black Automag

I am not sure of your problem but that is what usually happens when the gun wont fire at normal pressures but instead leaks out the back. Your best bet, as many people have said, is to call AGD and explain your problem to them. They may even be able to send you a new reg piston for little to no cost if your x-valve is brand new and came with a defective part. They have tech support for problems like this and I advise you to take advantage of that free service and contact them.Camo Green MicroMag #CF33558
