Just bought a new RT Pro and I am having a problem. When I shoot, every now and then I will have a shot with next to no air. The ball goes about 6ft. Then it will shoot fine for 10-20 more shots. What can make it do this?

I'm hovering right around 285fps at the chrono so I can't go up too much. I can't imagine the gun shouldn't be functioning well around that velocity. Is there anything else I should check or try? My compressed air bottle was still well over 2000 PSI when I noticed the problem. I even tried my friends tank to make sure my tank wasn't screwed up.Comment

Do you have a Level 10 bolt? If it's a new RT Pro you might. In which case it might just be a matter of swapping to the next smaller bolt spring. I'm still working with my Level 10 to get it just right.
That's my best guess but I am pretty new as well.
Hope that helps,

RT problems...
Make sure you have the right pressure set going into your RT Pro. Should be at 700-850 (some people run as high as 950 for more RT effect but this wears out your o-rings prematurely.)
If you are on a microline you might be starving your valve. Either that or the regulator on your tank might not be able to keep up on your RT.
If anything, check the output valve as your shoot a string of 10. Does your tank consistantly pressurize at the set output? Or does it tend to slowly ramp up to the set pressure? If it is slow to fully pressurize, your problem is the tank. If your tank is consistantly at the pressure you set it at, then you might to check the inside of your RT valve.
Did you put a couple of drops of oil into your valve prior to shooting? Clean out the internals? Is your gun new or used? If used, might be good to invest in a new set of orings for $25.
Also, to make it easier for people to help you, please give a full description of your setup: 1. tank size, manuf., pressure, preset or adjustible 2. valve type and line type 3. bolt-type 4. (if Level 10) spacers, shims, spring length
The more your give us info about your rig's setup, the more likely the forum can solve your problems. Good luck and welcome to the AO family.

Tank is an ACI 68ci, 4500psi, preset 800psi (actually slightly under), tank is brand new.
No remote or macro line, using the stock steel braided hose and threading tank right onto the ASA.
Gun is 100% brand new. I pulled it apart when I got it and everything seemed to have a thin coating of oil on it.
Thanks for welcoming me into the family...

i got a new rt pro and am having the same problems. see post:
I might be having another problem with the small on/off pin o rin. do you have two o rings on your on/off valve pin (one inside the other) or one?Comment

thanks for the info. i switched my carrier to a 1.5 and used the smaller spring. im out of air though but ill let you know when i try it out. i did only have a single o ring. dont know if it came that way or somehow it disappeared when i disassembled it. i think it came that way cause the trigger was fubar before i took it apart. got another o ring from a friend so ill see if its fixed soon.Comment

My gun seems to be working fine now. I put the gold spring in it that came with my spare parts kit and it has been working good so far.
I just hope it stays that way. When I had everything apart last night my 3yr old started walking away with parts!!! Had to bribe him to get all my parts back
Hope things work out well for you.
