well technically.. 3000 psi mean say..

    68ci u will get 680 shots
    88ci.. 880 shots

    10shots per square " with 3k
    15 shot per square " with 4.5k

But that not 100% right.. so im gunna guess around 425 shot to a 47 3k on a classic mag

everyone needs to stop using this formula, it doesnt apply 90% of the time.

Hi everyone, I'm new the this forum. I was going to post this same question after playing today. I have a minimag and use a 47/3000 tank and I could barely get around 400 rounds off before running out of air. Is this normal? Also I'm wanting to upgrade to the LVL10 bolt but I hear its even more of a gas hog. Again I'm new to this forum so I dont know if this has been brought up before.
            Thanks,

            CoCoPuFFz

Yes LVL 10 uses more air.

400 round is in the ball park of what a 45/47 3000k tank will give. I've gotten about 600 round out of 68/3000 tank.

if you want real formulas, I can give one out.

minimum operating pressure for mag is 600psi, so you have 2400 psi working pressure. multiply this by tank size lets say 45ci divided by 12 will give 9000 ft lb of energy or about 13000 joules. it takes about 30 joules to fire. (20-40 depending upon how efficient the marker I am assuming 25-50% efficientcy, which seems fairly accurate) so 400 would seem to be in the ball park. more efficient marker may go upto 600 shots, while it could be as bad as 300 shot.

                68ciat 3000 will give about 600 (900 to 450 range)

45/4500 psi tank will have about 21000 joule of energy, so 700 shots. (1000 to 500 shot range) 68/4500 about 1050 shots(1500 to 750)

                You see, it is easy

askman, does that also take into consideration the energy that won't be used in the tank?

A lvl 7 'mag quits delivering a 285 fps shot at around 400-600 psi right? A lvl 10 'mag stops shooting at around 800-900 psi; at least the ones I've worked with.

Energy doesn't deliver itself evenly like eggs in an egg carton.

A level 7 mag uses between 200 and 250 in-lbs of air for each shot. In my experience it has been more on the 220 in-lbs per shot due to inefficiencies such as vented barrels and such.

The usable air in the tank is 2400psi (3000 - 600). That means there is 112800 in-lbs of energy to be used. At 220 in-lbs per shot, that equals about 512 shots. I think that is fairly accurate.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

efficientcy of the marker play a big role, In my case, I am using around 250in-lb, thus little over 400 round. with minimum pressure needed, higher pressure tank is better to have
