i have one bolt where the tri-point tip sticks up above the cylinder part of the bolt and one where the tip is kinda encased in the bolt. whats the diff?

The bolt with a protruding nose is a foamiless bolt.
A Level 7 foamie bolt will have a cylindrical recess in the nose of the bolt where you glue the foamie, but the foamie protrudes slightly from the front of the bolt.
A level 10 bolt also has a foamie but the recess is deeper and the top of the foamie is flush with the top of the bolt.
