    Automag troubleshooting software... ;)

    Hi all,

I am very big on the quote "Do un to others......etc". I have found that all the forum users have been very helpful with all my questions and just flat out nice...I dont have much in the way of physical material I can offer 1000's of people, so I thought of this way to contribute back.

I have been programming in VisualBasic for about 7 years now and I thought today, "How cool would it be if there was a software that an automag owner could give their mag specs to. Then select from a list a problem they are having and have a solution given to them.". I personally think it would be really handy. Especially to those with dial up and mag problems .

This will take a while to write but, I was just curious if any of you would accually use a tool like this?

Also, To whom it my concern. I write good software, would you be willing to post a link to it on the website and/or host it, provided you deemed it worthy?

    Thanks,

    Nick

edit: Oh yeah.....I am thinking of names for the software as well....Any idea's? I came up with AutomagAtion and Automags offline.

this was done pre-pc in the form of toms trouble-shooting vid. however, your idea is a very good one! consider this, if you are as good c computers as you say(no disrespect intended), call AGD and table your offer(pro-bono?)! see what happens, tom's plate is very full, maybe he will hook you up with one of his head techs and yall can work something out. good luck!

Humm... that's what flowcharts are for.

I don't understand the need to 'program' something to do this. Could just make a web page or something...

          hobby

          Thanks for the idea.

I program for fun and at my own leisure, so any kind of thing that would make it feel more like a job would totally turn me off to doing it.

Miscue...I think because it is quicker than html and it will be more automated. And also cause I wanted to give something back, but can't take 1000's of people out to dinner.

How about one in flash? It should load fairly flash if you don't use to much animation. I also learned VB and other programming languages when I was in college, pre windows 95. I loved VB! I did a class scheduling system as an extra credit project. I was actually suppose to program it in Access Forms but my teacher still accepted it. He was so impressed that he used my design to make one for the school. I really don't mind that he used it. From what I hear, a popular toy was from a senior project back in the 80's. It was Teddy Ruxbin. The students who made it put it into production. My college, DeVry, sued them for rights but lost. Since then, the contract included all programs and devices belongs to them. I'm not exactly sure if this is true but many professors talked about it.
