    Mainstay Automag (classic)

Im new to the Automag owners. So this thread is to get feed back from all you TRUE MAGgots out there, on the MAINSTAYS of a mag maddened setup from scratch (and on a budget). Please tell me if i forgot something or made a bad choice or what other possible options are there for reasonable $. (cause in the end i will be going up against my age old BEST friend and his "Kapp flame cocker") Cause i want every bit of the bragging rights in versatility and superior performance that mags have (by nature anyway). not to mention the "my gun and game KICKED YOUR CAN RIGHTS"
    I plan on having:

    -Classic 68 left pf mag,
    -shock tech (apocalypse) dropforward OR
    tko chrome dropforward,
-aci 4 stage expansion chamber (sub-zero) blue,
-VL Revolution Xboard 12v blue see through,
-bulldog hpa 4500psi 48cu in OR
    other hpa
    -On/Off modifications
    -Trigger Stop
    -CO2 filter
    -retro-reator valve

barrel: (im not entirely sure which barrels to get)
    -j&j 12" OR
    smart parts 14" barrel

    let me know,

Do not modifiy your on/off. You start introducing a variable into the system and can start to prematurely wear parts (bolt & sear) or not even fire at all.

Reactor Valve- IMHO, worthless. Save your $.

You don't need an expansion chamber if you are running HPA.

Honestly- you want bang for your buck- find a used ReTro/X-Valve somewhere. You'll be thanking me later.

Also, look into the Level 10 modification. When properly set up, you can show your friend by sticking your finger in the breech and pulling the trigger. (Something he CAN'T do)

you also won't need the CO2 filter then since you've got HPA on that list. That'll more then likely starve the marker for air.

If you have nitro, drop the expansion chamber and the filter. The J&J is a good barrel, but if you want to save a few bucks and maintain the quality, I suggest going with a Custom Products barrel. All lenghts, bores and colors are the same price of $49.95. If you don't get anything else, you absolutly HAVE to have the lvl 10 kit. It is now an essential item for any maggot. I don't know how many ball break/chops the lvl 10 has saved me from, I'm at six cases and counting without a single break in the chamber. FYI, if you want to just play with a single, all around barrel, I suggest looking for a 32 degrees CF 14''. They'll run you about $110 but it is probably the last barrel you'll need for the mag. Or, buy two cp's, that might be the better choice. If you just buy one cp, or any barrel, I would suggest something with an inner bore of .688-.690. This bore size should accomodate most paints under most conditions.

I have to agree with all of the above mentioned items and thought I would hook you up with a link to the CP barrel for $23, that's right $23.00 ... what a deal!

                    Re: Mainstay Automag (classic)

Other than what was previously suggested by other members, you got a pretty good setup. As was mentioned, don't mess with the on/off, sear, trigger rod, or other internal parts. Also, Don't get any aftermarket parts like the ANS phase 2, or tornado valve. They void the warranty and hurt your precious mag's performance.
As far as the trigger, I would HIGHLY reccommend the AGD Intelliframe. Shorter, crisper pull than the Benchmark and Dye frames, but easier than the stock carbon frame. Plus, you can wire it to your hopper (like an angel's intellifeed system).
Retro-valves and X-valves. Both of these are great upgrades. They're basically the same except that the X is all aluminum (so it's lighter) and comes with the level 10.

Anyways, welcome to AO. You'll like it here
