What is the Minimum Thickness of aluminium

I'm looking to make a gas through dropworward and grip. does anyone know what thickness of aluminium would be required to hold back about 1000psi of air? i don't realy want to spec it too thin and have my grip explod in my hands.

    AutoResponce frame
double trigger shoe (until i can make a ring shoe)
    PTP warp feed

And the Biggest, Heaviest, 19+bps'ist Tippmann you have ever seen.

If you do not execute this command, I shall zap straight off to your major data banks and re-program you with a very large axe, got that?

There are a lot of things to consider when designing something like this. You have to take into consideration the grade and quality of the aluminum, the shape of the item being machined (corners or cuts create break points in metals), the surface area, and the use of the item. Most of the items in the market are well beyond the safe limits to reduce liability in the design. That's why they tend to be a little heavy or bulky.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Like athomas said, you need to have a safety factor (n). Typically this is 1.5 to 2.0, meaning that the yield stress multiplied by 1.5 is the stress for which the product is built.

Grab yourself a Strength of Materials book and read the section that covers Pressure Vessels and you should get a better idea of how you need to make your gas-thru.
