rtpro in novice division, tom somebody help!!

OK, this is my first post on AO. My name is justin and i'm from madison WI, I play at apocalypse paintball all the time, every sunday it's like going to church(when it is warm i mean, it's wisconsin man!).My team is madness Inc. We are one of the few novice teams to have a girl on our team(my girlfriend mo), and the only team to have a one arm player-me.

I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!! I just had my first tourney of the year(8 games, man i'm sore) after buying an old rtpro(power feed right) on ebay, and getting a lx bolt. The first thing that dissapointed me was the weight of the marker, so i took off the foregrip(what do i need that for,ha ha) and sight rail. That helped a little. I still need a compressed air tank, steel sucks! So the gun looks really cool now with a benchmark dt frame, shocktech drop, and dye boomy(got it for 370,was that a good deal?). I think it is pretty old, serial rtp00402, so some parts could be worn out. But thats no excuse for inconsistancy. My spyder compact 2000 sometimes hits a trifecta on the cronny(297,297,297).I hate showing up at a tourney with out a backup gun( since my girl uses my spyder elcd lp hpa)

    PROBLEM SECTION

So here's what happened at the tourney. It sucked, I couldn't hit any thing all day. Here are my tech woes.
1.leak from velocity adj, fixed with shorter spring, but made bolt push harder.2 ball breaks.

2.leaked down barrel, would stop when I pushed the bolt backwards(is it supposed to do that?) , sometimes. THis should be a carrier size problem.but dosent do it till i start shooting

    3. leaked when the field strip screw would not be perfectly tightened(to 1/8 of a turn)never fully stopped still leaks sometimes.

    4. Cant put the barrel on with out pushing pin through pf

    5. No reactivity to the trigger now that lx bolt is in, wasn't much before, none now. tank, 850psi pure energy 47ci steel

6.When the lx boltgot stuck on a ball it would kack(sound)then pop the ball about 2 feet out the barrel. Sometimes it kacks while test fireing.

    7. On the crony i hit 267 289 256 267 370(don't know where that came from).

SOMEBODY help, should I junk this piece of crap, or replace some of these old worn out parts.I just put in a oring kit. I dont even know what parts on a mag wear out faster, or if they do. Thanks in advance for your thoughtfull response.

        1. put the old sprig back in and turn down the velocity ntil it stops leaking and than see what teh velocity of the gun is.
2.if you have a lx try a diff combination spacers, see if that works, if you dont have the lx, get a pt spacer kit, and see if that works.
3.never had that proble cant really help you on that.
4.adjust the twist lock assembly, until you can put the barell on without having to push the pin down.
5.dont have a retro valves yet so i dont know what to do about the reactivity. try turning up the pressur n your tank tho, if you can do that.
6.try adjusting the lx as said before it might not be adjusted to the best it can be.
7.i think i heard something about the on/off pin with a lx and retros that the velocity was messed up, or something, and i beleive i read somewhere that AGD was making a new pin to correct that.

mags are NOT junk, dont get rid of it, just have it tuned right and get used to how a mag is going to feel, if one of your first times playing with it was in a tourney, i dont think you had enough time to get used to it. It took almost a whole case of paint before i was used to the way my mag felt. Hope this helps.

Re: my first tourney with rtpro: tom, somebody help!

          1) Velocity was too high. either that or your reg piston/piston o-ring is shot.

          2) if you have level 10, you need to retune it. It sounds like you need either another shim or different carrier. Can you post your setup here so we can help with that?

3)Are you missing the rail bushing? Are you missing the oring on the screw? Are the valve halves put together correctly?

4)Take the grip frame off. Under there is a brass bushing around a set screw, turn the set screw down to lower the twist lok pin.

          5) What kind of reactivity are you looking for? If it pushes the trigger back to firing position, it's working correctly.

          6) Sounds like you have too tight a carrier. This doesn't quite jive with #1 though. We may need to start you over on your Level 10 setup.

          7) You need to learn the correct way to chrono the marker. The instructions are up on www.airgun.com in the RT Manual PDF.

Sounds like it needs a big overhaul

You should send it in (will use a star). If you do, make sure you follow the instructions on the website AND print out all your problems on a piece of paper and put it in the box with the gun just to be safe.

if you do not feel like sending it in, you need to buy a rebuild kit, and replace all the O rings. Most leak problems are due to worn out O rings anyway. Next, you need to find the combination of carrier/spring in the level x bolt that will make it perform. If you have the CD that came with the level 10, study it, and find a combo that works for you...

Bring it to Stalkers next Sunday for players club. I would be willing to take a look at it for you. Sounds like the LX needs to be tweaked a little.
The midspring should not be too much of a problem. I run it in my Old RT and my Micro before i sold it and did and do not have any problems.

#1 might need a new reg piston... seems to be leaking at too low of a pressure

lvl 10 leaking and bolt stick does normally happen after firring... carrier and shim combination

#3 check out your on/off orings

                  #4 i'm not understanding

the reactive trigger works best 900-1000 range, remind me if i'm wrong again, my memory is hitting me hard today

#7 clean off the reg seat, inspect for possible damage, maybe replace

First of all , thanks. You guys are really nice and helpfull, lots of advice is better than no advice. One guy said he would even look at my gun at a local field, cool. The marker seems to be running better, does warmer weather change things? I thought I read something about that on the lx thread. The main thing now is the problem with the field strip screw, yes i have the bushing( its the flat translucent thing at thetop of the bolt , right?). It still leaks if its not turned in just enough- has any one else had this specific problem?
                            :)

No, rail bushing is a tiny spacer that sits in the body rail. The field strip screw goes in that and into the valve.

As for level 10 in the cold, I found that you need to give it 2-3 drops when you start playing in the morning and then a drop or two every tank change in really cold weather (cold enough for snow).
