Emag w/ LX and no-rise problem

Hey guys, I recently aquired a no-rise LX emag. I serviced it and adjusted it to my liking, it was shooting air beautifully. I had my first game w/ it on Sunday (yesterday)

It was rainy and snowy, but not bad enough to get near the electronics. I am using a Pure Energy 68/3000 tank and Halo-A with it.

The level 10 was having some issues. It might have been due to the cold, not sure...but many, many times, would not fire when the trigger was pulled, both in manual and E-mode. I had about 1200 psi in the tank. Some of the shots came out, others spurted out, and on some, but bolt did not go forward at all. The marker was tested and had oil through it. This was a little frustrating, because paint was breaking, and the LX caught some balls that would have been chopped otherwise...and sometimes the bolt would not reset itself. I thought maybe the tank didn't have enough pressure in it, so I got it filled again.

I went back out there, and had the same problem, except this time it seemed to fire a little more consistently, but could not go over about 3-4 bps without my Halo jamming. That was also something else. I think there might be a problem w/ the Halo, in that many many many times I tried turning it on, and it wouldn't come on, or turning it off, and having it not turn off, or turning it on, it jamming, then somehow turning itself off in the middle of playing. I checked the batteries in it today...seems to be running fine. If it helps, I took the small ball detent thing in the feed neck of it out, like on the Halo A. Also, could any Halo users be able to provide me some info in what happens when a Halo 'jams'? It would jam just going into 3 bps, and many times.

Then today, to see if the problem still existed, I cleaned the gun a little, and threw in my retro-valve without level ten, to see if it was the level 10 causing some issues...I used 2 barrels, a boomstick and a bigshot, and tried two different kinds of paint, Big Ball, and an unknown, both good paint-to-bore matches. I was shooting about 280-300 fps.

First shots- started out firing very slowly...1 bps. It chopped on about the 6th or 7th ball.
Second, using bigshot-fired a little faster, about 3 bps, and finally had it chop...man was it loud!

I have no clue as to what is tripping up these balls. the no-rise seems to be fine, nothing out of the ordinary. Any insight or help would be appreciated.

I am also looking to sell this gun soon...definitely not because of this...the gun is fantastic. Just found that the Emag is not really my thing, plus I'm more attached to my Z-gripped warped mag Plus I can't justify having two extremely nice high end paintball guns at the same time. I want to get to the bottom of this though before I sell it, wouldn't be willing to sell it with any unresolved problems.

Thanks for any help you can give,

    Dave

What size is the barrel and paint that you were using? Were the nubbins in good shape?

The Halo may have been pushing the paint farther into the barrel than it should have. This is especially evident under rapid firing when the Halo motor is running at full rpm, but still is a concern even when firing slowly. The motor rpm and the momentum of the balls going into the breach at high rates of fire provides a little extra pressure. When this happens, the next ball in the stack causes the level 10 bolt to hit and stick, preventing a shot. With a level 7 bolt the gun would have a tendency to chop more often, even when firing relatively slow. Weather would definately play a big part in how this affected the operation as well because moisture affects the consistency of the paintballs.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

I have found that in cold and snowy weather, you want to run oil through the level 10/gun system every tank fillup. In the cold, the oil can become thick and not be as slippery as it should.

OK well, I tried it with the Revvy...had good results...would fire consistently at around 6 bps...and when I would forcibly try to get the gun to chop...level 10 kicked in...and reset itself nicely...

Man, may have to look into dual nubbin barrels!

In any case I think I'm going to send the Halo in for the Halo B upgrade=)

Im not that knowledgable about your setup but could the halo be pushing the ball past the nubbin and causing problems?
