    broken gun

Recently at a tournament my bolt got stuck in my barrel and air was leaking out the front of the barell unless my finger was depressed on the trigger. When I tried to remove the barrel it was over rotating. I was able to fix the problem by field stripping the gun but when I put the barrel in it happened again. In the 12 years of owning the gun I have never saw this before. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this please. Thanks

The only thing i can think of for the leak is that you either need a new spring(worn out spring), powertube o-ring, new bolt(look for ware on the part that the sear catches) but still not sure what you mean by over rotating??
set up: Micro e-mag with 32 degree chrome flame drop, Level 10, 88/4500 crossfire, 12 in CP, 32 degree whisper and ARADUS 14in barrel, EVO II.

thanks for the reply I will do that. Actually the barrel was rotating 360Deg not the bolt. I never saw this either. Luckily it happened while I was at a tournament.

Is your barrel pin loose? (the screw that is reached through the hole in the trigger frame?)

That could cause the rotation, as for the leak stopping after you pull the trigger it means that it is comming from the area towards the front of the gun (Powertube and beyond).

Check your barrel o-rings and the locking groove in the barrel. Some barrels are cut shallow which allows the locking pin to jump out of the groove. When this happens the barrel will rotate completely around.

If the bolt gets stuck in the barrel, then either the barrel ID is too small for the bolt, or the barrel is not sitting straight in the body. As Mav D MagMan said, check the screw that holds the body onto the rail. If the body is not secure, these symptoms may occur.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Make sure the barrel twist-lock assembly (the spring loaded metal pin that is mounted in the rail) is ok. If it's gummed up they can get jammed down, allowing the barrel to be inserted anyway and spin. Take the body off the rail, oil it and make sure you can push it up and down with your finger and that it springs back ok.

Most common things I've seen for bolts sticking in the barrel are:

            - Damaged wire nubbin on barrel (it gets bent into the barrel and jams the bolt).

            - Main spring needs replacing

            - Frame + body not screwed together tight

If you've been using your barrel ok up till now I can't see it being the problem.

One last comment to add to Gadgets list (great list by the way):

Two of my buddies where haveing their bolts rub on their barrels which caused a very similiar problem. The front frame screw needs to have a washer on it to prevent it from going ALL the way through the screw hole. If no washer is present and you tighten that screw it will actually protrude up into the body under your barrel, thus the end of the screw will "push" up on the back of the barrel. This upward pressure allowed one of my buddies to turn the barrel 360 degrees.

              Just another thing to check!
