Automags actually regulate their internal pressure down to 400psi and if I remember correctly, the actual "on ball pressure" is something like 60-80psi.
As for LP operation on a mag- it's just hype. LP really doesn't do squat. The mag must have at least 600psi flowing into it for proper operation. If you want to quiet it down, switch to a new barrel. As for efficiency, check your barrel. See if it has LOTS of porting or it's overly long.
Also, a level 10 kit will chew up about 5% more air than stock due to it's function. But I'd rather have less efficiency and no chops. -
It isn't possible to go much lower. The mag valve already operates around 450psi. LP doesn't always mean greater efficiency, look at Shockers and the Matrix. Here's a few links that might help,
http://www.automags.org/forums/showt...essure+and+mag , miscue states barrel pressure at 60 psi on that one, the other is the results of a search I did, http://www.automags.org/forums/searc...der=descendingComment

How bout this idea?
Does how strong or weak the bolt return spring is effect how the gas is exhausted (dwell time)? Or since the bolt isn't captured by the sear until the trigger is released, is this just meaningless? Can you mechanically control dwell on this valve configuration?Comment

i have an AA barrel which has what i beleive " way too much " porting

what you can do though if you want to decrease your operating pressure is to decrease the recocking springs tension. so basically you buy a weaker spring from a hardware store and throw it in there and voila! your gun is going to have an increase of velocity by atleast 10 fps.
dont get too weak of a spring though because then you get bolt stick. And it does make the gun quieter but it also makes it less reliable and can make it wear faster on the power tube.

hey
ok i don't think i'll do that then. can one of you explain to me how more porting on a barrel makes my gun use less gas? i mean if it has less porting the air isn't gonna go back into the tank... confused. thanks i have a 12" AA porting with porting aLL the way down

Re: hey
It makes it use MORE gas. Once the paintball passes the FIRST port ALL the gas pressure it vented. The paintball is now traveling on momentum and slowing down. You have to turn up the velocity (use more gas) to accelerate the paintball to a higher top speed so it can slow down some. Fortunately, most of today's barrels are very smooth with very little friction. They don't slow the paintball down much. Using a barrel that has a small enough bore to get a good seal on the paintball will help with efficiency.Originally posted by litestab

Barrel porting
If you think porting is effecting your guns operation try this. With a quality paint, take 5 to 10 shots over the chrono, record them and average. Now, cover the ports with some tape and do it again. See how much the diffence is and that should give you a general idea about what's going on.Comment
