    Not to worry

It is a sure sign of good quality steel. My Browning Auto 5 Light 12 Belgium Special steel also makes a ringing noise when fired. Be glad it does, and be happy you have a high quality gun...

If you are refering to that pinging noise when you fire that more than likely has to do with your barrel. Every guy I know of with a mag and a DYE stainless has a ping noise when they fire. I'm pretty sure it's the bolt hitting the barrel.

the barrel makes a ping but im talking about a ring. You can hear the spring i guess like vibrate and it can go on for like a second after the marker is fired. I think it is just a characteristic of the spring but it has always been there even with my stock barrel(aluminium). is there any way to muffle it or something.

This might be completely silly, but have you checked to make sure your bolt bumper is installed and in good shape. It's the only thing I can think of.

Try a brass barrel, and then go back to al or stainless.

                    Brass bbls really sound off.

If your zoned in right, you shouldn't even hear your mag ringing. You should only hear your eyes and what is behind you. :P jk.

                      WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!!!

Before you go all crazy trying to buy barrel heed this bit of advice and answer me this...

What type of nitro tank do you have on it????

It may be the tank that is ringing and I will tell you why if the answer is affirmative. Now if you are shooting a stock crown point barrel then it would be your barrel.. Put a black O-Ring on the end and the ringing will quit. It looks kinda dork but it works like a charm...

Understand this. Tom Kaye (in my humblest of opinions) cared very little about looks when he designed the original mag and CP barrel. That is why it is perhaps the ugliest of two tubes welded together, but like my father used to say "This aint no fashion show" and ALL of the guns flat rip so whatever.... I would rather have two tubes that rip than a fade anno beautiful Spyder...

                        hmm

If the spring itself is able move around enough to ring, what would happen if you stretched it out a bit? Either that or the spring coils are vibrating when the gun is shot and reverberating off the bolt probably. Come to think of it, if you stretched the spring it would probably throw the gun out of whack so don't do it.

im not going to go out and buy a barrel its not that or the tank, it is a distinctive ring from behind the barrel(happens when the barrel is on and off and it sounda like a spring ringing thats the only way to describe it) and it is not the tank ping(i had that ping on my m98 and know what it sounds like) i still use co2 by the way. Am i the only one that has heard this, i have never noticed it with paint(it still could happen i just dont listed much to my marker when i play) just dry firing at home.

edit: it may be just the spring ringing off the body or bolt maybe, its a pretty new spring it doesnt need streching/replacing or anything

Just for clarification Tank ring and reg ping are two different things.

Tank ring = When the model 98 recocks (since it is a blow back) it makes metal on metal contact (with the sear and the like) the 20 oz C02 tank has effectivly a resonance chamber and resonatews that contact. Hence tank ring.

Regulator Ping = In certain tanks there is not a spring that closes the tank off alowed the regulator to regulate the air in the system. It is a disk that occludes a hole in the reg. If it is slamming aainst that hole it can ring THEN the tank causes it to resonate causing a loud PING to be heard.

do i have to be any more clear it is no other spring, just the bolt spring ringing/vibrating is this normal and is there a way to stop it?

Also on a m98 it isnt the metal on metal that causes it it is the trigger/sear springs that vibrate and make the tank ring. Im just interested in the bolt spring ring because i have no tank ring.
