I,ve got an automag classic with a minimag A.I.R. valve when i pull the trigger the bolt sticks forward and returns when i push it back or take the co2 off, i've tried all the spacers in the kit and have a new spring and tried turning down the reg. Also have all new seals. Any Ideas? fdman

I'm guessing you're using a lvl 7 bolt?
It sounds like the fit between the bolt and the powertube o-ring is too tight. That way when there's lots of pressure behind the bolt when waiting to fire the bolt plunger can slide through, but the spring return force isn't great enough to push it back. When you push on the bolt you increase the force, overcoming the friction and it resets. Same thing would happen by removing your tank: that will allow the chamber to empty and thus remove the residual air pressure acting agains the mainspring which would then be able to reset the bolt.
When did the problem crop up? Did you just get the marker, or has it been working fine for a while.

very odd... very odd indeed
maybe it would help to get some more info
First off, are you clear on how the gun works, what all the parts are called and how they fit together? (I'm guessing yes, but its good to check
) If not you can find the manual and/or looked at the parts blow up at http://www.airgun.com/manual.shtml
Most likely the problem is in one of two places, between the bolt stem (or plunger) and the pt o-ring, or between the bolt and the barrel. Lets see if we can narrow it down.
I'm guessing that when you replaced all the seals, that inlcuded the power tube o-ring at the base of the power tube? How many have you tried? If you've tried several, its probably not the problem (though it seems that it would be the most likely culprit).
There are a number of different lvl 7 bolts, do you know what type you have? Longnose or shortnose? Hardnose or foamie? Aftermarket (ie ANS) or AGD? Have you tried using a different bolt?
What kind of barrel are you using, and have you tried different barrels?
Do you have any idea how far forward the bolt is where it gets stuck? Is there any chance that its getting stuck on the ball-detent nubbins?
Is the marker clean and free of any dirt/debris that might have gotten stuck somewhere?
EDIT: Oh, just thought of a very helpful question: does the gun vent any air when the bolt is stuck? what happens if you wiggle the bolt a little bit (not enough to push it back, just wiggle it) -- hear any air come out now?Last edited by Cristobal; 04-27-2003, 02:53 PM.

I know the parts and how it works more now. I replaced the oring at the base of the pt and on the tip with 2 different orings same problem.
I dont know if it is long or a short bolt but its is a hardnose agd bolt and I dont have another to try.
I have a agd eliminator barrel but it also does this with out the barrel on.
It sticks about 3/4 of the way into the the loader hole without the barrel. And the gun is totally clean.
And yes when the bolt is stuck forward the air is rushing out the front and doesnt stop if I wiggle it only when i push it back. Is it possible that the catch on the sear pin is wore to much? I dont even no if that is possible.

Sorry for all the questions

But if air is rushing out, then that should indicate that its already cleared the pt oring and hence there's some other problem.
If its getting stuck 3/4 into the breach then its probably not the nubbins (unless you can see that they've been bent when you remove the barrel).
I have a feeling Russ may be right... I hadn't thought of the ring inside the mainbody, but somehow the bolt must be catching on something.

Alright ive checked the way the orings in the pt are and thats right now there is an oring inside the mainbody? Ive never seen one in there. When i shoot it the bolt springs back and the sticks forward and starts leaking alot of air(co2). Ive had some friends of mine look at it they both have mags and couldnt figure it out either?????

How often do you oil your valve? It sounds like it may be your PT o-ring sticking. I would put some oil on all the o-rings by hand and then put 4-5 drops of oil in your air line and shoot it through your gun with the barrel off(20-30 shoots), then put your barrel back on and try again. If that doesent work then look at your bolt and if it has any scratches then check your body tube for burrs that may be cathing the bolt, if you are looking into the body from the back with your valve out the place you will be checking is the welded in washer that the bolt spring sets on. This is the "o-Ring" your asking about.Great Traders: RogueFactor,Doobie
