    What is the nubin for?

i have an automag classic and it chops balls like crazy i asked someone why and they said i should get a new plastic nubbin for my barrel and i was wondering what the nubbin is for i am also thinking about getting a level 10 superbolt if anyone has any other suggestions on how to stop the classic from choppin paint i would appreciate it

The nubbin stops the balls from falling down to far so that the bolt will only hit one ball at a time. If its set to low the bolt may be hitting the next ball in line or if it's to high the first one may be getting smashed because it won't fit into the barrel easily. I'd go ahead and get the plastic ones and LX. I haven't broke a detent yet but having some spares is kinda comforting. If funding is tight I would change the detent first, it's cheaper than LX, but if you have the money I'd say get 'em both!

LX is the level 10 anti-chop system.

Detent is another word for the nubbin. That's what they are called on other guns.

I would say get the LX. it will stop all your chopping woes. the fact that you have a classic could be the problem right there. classic direct fed automags have a higher tendacy to chop simply because of the design. blowback gases tend to bobble the balls in the feedtube and then it chops. you can try changing the detents, but I bet it doesn't help.

I would have to agree with xen, the nubin doesnt have anything to do with choping balls. It just prevents the balls from rolling out the barrel. I would say, invest in a good hopper. I only use the halo b. There is nothing better than force feeding balls, except maybe the warp but then you still need a hopper.

are you using a standard feed or powerfeed? I noticed that the reason I broke alot of paint with my standard feed is because when I lean out of the right side of a bunker I tend to tip the gun to the right which makes the feed tube sit nearly horizontal. this may be something only I do but you might want to watch for it next time you play, after learning how to play without doing this I broken much less paint. if this is'nt the case, what kind of paint are you using?? the very brittle paint such as Evil tends to get raped by the level 7 bolt. just changing my stype of play, and the paint that I used, I went from braking 2-3 balls a game to 2-3 balls a day.

well i use anarchy paint (which i consider to be the greatest ball in the sport) and i have a power feed gun i use a 9v revy and a carbon fiber barrel im not sure if i am outshooting my hopper or beaking balls in the barrel

well since you have a powerfeed classic, (like me)I dont see where blowback could be causing the problems. You said that you got a CF barrel, did you put the O-rings on the barrel?? if you did, thats where the nubin goes. You will see a little grove kinda "Z" looking. thats where the nubin/ball-detent goes. also, your not short-stroking the trigger are you? I knew that when I first got my mag it took me a long time to really learn how to shoot with the stock frame. I used to chop paint cause I didn't shoot it right. But first check to see if you have a little plastic or metal piece being held on with your barrel O-rings.

well i need a barrel o ring but i threw on two air tank o's the nubbin is there and is secure i suppose that the wrong o ring could cause some problems but i doubt if it is making my gun perform so poorly i also kindof doubt if i have been short stroking because i have been fairly caustios of that because someone else told me that i may have been doing that is there a trigger frame i can buy that will not allow me to short stroke i plan on buying a new one so i can add some color to my mag nayhow

if you ge the LX bolt your short stoking will go away. even if you do short stroke the trigger, the bolt will just reset. it will also be alot more gentle on paint. It has a side effect of lightening the trigger too. kinda nice.
