    Polishing a Body Rail

Ok, i have a polished minimag body, and im going to buy a chrome or black matte IFrame, but i want to know if i cna polish the body rail and vert adapter, so as to have a polished body, barrel, vert adapter, body rail, and a chrome frame. Is this possible, since the rail is aluminum, will it rust?? Also, what is the best way to do it. Thanks alot.

Don't polish the body rail or vert adapter. Your best bet is to sell what you have and use that toward chrome ones.

Ok, thanks. Is there any reason why that isnt a good idea? Or is it just too much work or it will turn out bad or what. Thanks again though

        dont polish

in my opinion it looks awful and it takes way to long, about getting a chrom rail, well good luck cuz they don't make them anymore, and they are hell to find, i have been looking for a while and havn't found one yet, as for the chrom asa, well you can find them on any website that carries automags acessories. hope this helps, and a chrom frame with a polished body looks tight, i have one !!!

It doesn't take long to polish aluminum with a buffing wheel. Dubstar said if you put the anodized stuff in the dishwasher it takes away the anodizing, so that would speed up the process. I polished my vert adapter, looked nice. It doesn't rust, but it left with moisture on it it will oxidize and turn whitish. I'd suggest getting an aluminum polish after buffing it, that should prevent it oxidizing.

                polishiing your mag

Don't be put off by those who say don't. As long as you have the basic tools, patient and a little common sense, it will not only look sweet as hell, but it has YOUR signature on it, meaning the pride you get at doing it yourself as opposed to dropping cash to just buy it. Anyone can do that. Two buffing wheels and three tubes of buffing compound from Lowes / home depot cost about 20$. Start with a stiff/semi-stiff wheel and heavy cleaning compound until to ano is off, then switch to the final /light cleaning compound on teh same wheel, finally, switch the wheels to a soft/polish wheel and final polishing compound until perfect. Follow that up with a little Mother's mag wheel polish and it's awesome(and YOU have done it yourself) just do not do the inside of the rail, where the mainbody goes or the bottom where the trigger frame goes and you will not cahngethe tolerances. This mag was bought used with the sandblasted finish main body, black rail and black hyperframe. Most of the time even if you buy a chrome or stainless unit online it will not be very polished(espeically the asa's. Good luck & shoot straight!!
