    Polishing main body=bad idea?

Today I was thinking about polishing the main body instead of my idea of painting it. I took some polishing solution(liquid) and took a little bit to the underneath of the powerfeed body, an undetected area, to see what it looked like. Then my dad said that the bead blasting was for a reason and that it helps to compress the metal and therefore strengthen it. Now, I can see, if that is true, that sanding, grinding, etc. would be bad, but all I did was take polish compound. Ok, I know now that I am not going to polish it. I just wanted to know if it will affect anything by just using that liquid stuff. For example, would it still be all right to sell? Perhaps I am over reacting, I just don't want to weaken the metal or anything.

Note:only thing used was polishing liquid and polish cloth.

I remember seeing one guy sell a totally wire-brushed body on ebay.

I polished mine with no ill effects. Remember the body is stainless steel, so it won't rust, and can handle the different environments(rain, dirt, etc). No, it will not hurt the strength of the gun. Hope this helps you out. By the way, I really like the way mine looks, kinda made it different than the oter gus(fade, etc).

yeah i polished mine as well.

i started off with a wire brush on a dremel at about 15,000rpms, and brushed all the paint off, then took a small polishing wheel and some turtle wax automotive polishing compound and polished it up. I have to say, instead of the dull gray body, it's a shiny stainless body. don't expect chrome though. it just shines instead of....not shining.
