    Thanks

Thanks for your help Xen. From the looks of it, your Spyder is appropriately named...lol.

    Thanks,

umm...........ok. that is 4 words. and if 15 BPS is not fast, then you are absolutely right.

Red dragun body, turbo valve, 12" Boomstick, Spud magics anti-chop bolt with quickstrip, ELCD, nitroduck 68CI,Gas thru stock, 12V revy, AGD Warpfeed system

          More questions

If the ball stack alignment is off, why do I only chop in high rates of fire. Like I said, no chops up to about 12-13 bps, but above that...gooey! Seems like it would chop at any speed if the alignment is off.

Also would dual detents be better than just one, or would that put too much pressure on the paint and cause more breaks?

          Thanks,
          Nathan

I dont know, but it could be because the halo is running more often and causing a harder push on the balls. I dont think dual detents would help, but if you installed them it would hurt anything. the spring onthe cocker detent is not hard enough to cause the balls to be crushed.

              Problem Solved

I finally was able to work on the gun, so I thought I'd post what I ended up doing for a solution.

After examining the ball stack alignment for about 10 minutes, I noticed that the next ball in line to shoot was protruding into the chamber the most when the chambered ball rested against the bolt. It protruded the least when the chambered ball sat against the detent.

Rather than having George from Bandit Bolts make me a custom bolt, we simply elongated the slot that the detents fit through and mirrored a sunken circle into the plate that holds the detent. This allowed us to put in another detent to center the ball, keeping the ball stack alignment true. George then took my current Bandit Bolt and made the clearance slot for the detent longer.

Everything worked great! 15bps right up until the loader got too low on paint to keep pressure on the stack, then I did break a ball, but since gravity can't feed that fast, it didn't bother me.

One odd thing was that when George put my Halo on his full-auto Spyder (similar set-up, but vertical feed), he had no problem shooting 15bps right away. We examined the detent on his gun, and found that the ball was allowed to travel between the bolt and detent just as much as in mine before the modifications. Seems odd that his wouldn't also chop. Must have something to do with the vertical feed or possibly the new Flash Body instead of an old Spyder SE body.

              Thanks again everyone,
              Nathan
