Will my efficiency be change depending on which spring I use with LVL10 ? I am tweaking my setup and was wondering how much efficiency, if any, I'll lose by going from the medium spring to the longest spring ?

it'll be a HAIR worse, but still, the long spring is overkill, I'd stick with the cut. -
I have never been able to use the longer spring in any of my 3 lvl10's. Every time i put one in, i would have needed to shoot well over 300 to get it to fire. I was wondering if it was just me but like i siad, i tried it in 3 different guns. Maybe i just have bad luck.http://www.automags.org/forums/showt...light=feedback
My girlfriend said that if i bought another paintball gun, she'd leave me........ I sure am going to miss her.Comment

I put in my long spring yesterday and it shot at 250-260 but I think it was because I only had like 800psi left in my tank.Comment

The Longest spring is great for impressing folks, unfortunately it's not very practical.
While you can get it to shoot the velocities you want you'll eventually have to retune (every time I ran it I had problems with it if not by the end of the day than the next time I tried to use it) and even the Mods will tell you, just use the mid spring.
These things aren't cockers! If they work leave them alone!

one of mine has the short spring and the other has the cut spring never needed to put in the long spring. The other spring has never even been used.anyone who tells you there are no such things as stupid questions is lying to you so they can laugh at your questions.Comment

efficiency
it's funny to hear all the folks whine/wonder/question the loss of efficiency the lvl 10 provides our mags. the lvl 10 allows you to dump immeasurable ammounts of paint with out worrying about breaking ever again. so i'm gonna go out on a limb and say most of you are doing just that, and spending $100 in a day on paint is not outside the realm of possibility (some pry double/triple that). with that in mind, how is shooting one or two pods less (stab in the dark) per tank fill something worth losing sleep over? compared to paint, air is downright cheap. if you're paying more than a pods worth of $$ for a fill, something is wrong anyways. moral of the story, if the lvl 10 took my efficiency away 50% i'd still shoot it the same as smokers pay $5 a pack and not think twice about it, 'cause it's just that good. my thoughts

Here's a thought...not all of us play at fields where air fills are readily available. Some of us play on private land and have to drive a ways to get air fills.

Actually, my level 10 wasn't satisfactory until I got the long spring in and tuned.
It would often eventually leak with the middle/cut spring. No, it wasn't a matter of having the next smaller carrier.
I'm just saying that I'm finally happy with the level 10 now that I have the longest spring in.
I believe (or better yet hope) the new level 10 kits don't have a "cut" spring but have middle length spring instead.
I have theory about the cut part.Thanotos

Everyone can run the short stock spring...Thats the one that lets you go down to lower feet per second. But getting up to 290 or so is often hard. But it is the hardest on paint. Its still an improvement so if it works for you and you can achieve the FPS you need then fine. But if you used it because you could not get the cut one to work due to venting then you have another issue you need to deal with if you want lighter touch and the proper FPS. I will go into that next paragraph.
It's running the longer softer springs that sometimes gets to be an issue. Some of you have pistons that will not hold the higher input pressure and have to change them out to the newest piston. There are three pistons now. The original was a CO2 piston. The second one was set to overpressure and vent at 650 or so (Not sure that right and would have to look at my notes to be sure of that but no matter realy what it is for the purpose of this discussion...it was lower than the latest one). Since Level 10 needed more input to drive it this sometimes vents so they increased the over pressure vent on this last one. Sometimes you do not need the extra holding ability of this new piston. And sometimes you do. It's not precise. If you cannot set up the cut spring and get 280-290 FPS without it venting you have to change it out to get the middle spring to work.
And with the longest spring the thing sometimes fails to shoot. So it's so carefully balanced on the edge of performance that it sometimes sticks. So most people opt for that not to happen but want the softest hit they can get. The Cut spring is the choice. It's softer on paint than the Short Stock. Its a compromise that seems to be the best choice.
The Cut spring is still coming in the kits. And with the X Valves and such. Tom has stated he intends to find a spring to use that will replace that so it will not have to be cut. But to date he has not replaced it.Comment
