    Are boomsticks worth the money?

    Hey everyone, i have a ?

I just got a 68 mag w/powerfeed off of my bro. It currently has a VL2000 power series w/ motorfeed(ball circulator), 20 ounce Catalina 20 ounce CO2( i dont have money for nitro so dont even suggest it) and a AGD stock barrel

This is the barrel and frame currently on it http://www.airgun.com/Products/68Tourn.shtml

I was wondering what barrel I should get for it.
I could probably get a boomstick for graduation gift, but I'm also thinking of getting a barrel converter and something else.

    Any suggestions?

Welcome to AO! Lots of people like boomsticks but if you can't use the same brand paint everytime I really don't see how they are worth the money. I think freaks still sell for about twice as much but the versatility is unbelievable! For single bore barrels w/ a little better price I'd check out Lapco's or J&J ceramics! Good Luck:)

Get yourself a JJ Edge kit. It has enough bore sizes to cover most all paint and it's not much more than a Boomstick. They're made better than the Freak and you can get them in stainless backs so they last longer.

Instead of a boomstick, look at ultralights. They perform the same but weigh a lot less.

yeah, for DYE barrels, i'd say do the Ultralite, it shoots the same and is WAY lighter than the boomy.
                sigs are overrated.

you could get nitro for less than a boomy, if its a graduation gift. You could probably get a J&J ceramic and a cheap nitro tank for the price of the boomy.

An alternative is to get a Boomstick Front for the freak, so you can still have the same end with the added bonus of the different bore inserts. A team mate has one on his cocker and it works like a dream

                    cheers

try the c-p kit i have the pro set and it blew my freak set outa the water on the mags and my cocker also ... the freak set was just a pain in the *** with its inferior sleves ... the c-p kit is sooooooo lightttttt and quiet and the anno job is flawless also ... cp in my book has the barrel business by the balls ... i have the pro 9 pc set .682 , .685 , .689 , .693 , .696 backs along with all 4 fronts in 10 , 12 , 14 , 16 the 12 is my favorite for the mag and the cocker ive found though that the .682 and the .696 havent been used yet but o well ya never know...
owned mags since the begining of time . arguably the best gun in the world . 12 years with both mags and still not a stumble in either one . over a billion bunkered .coming to a feild neer you slinging streams of paint and taking names .

Booms are nice. you may want to look into the screw together booms that way as you go on you can basically create your own kit.
anyone who tells you there are no such things as stupid questions is lying to you so they can laugh at your questions.

I just got a boomstick. WOW is all I can say. I don't have much to compare it with because I haven't used my stock emag barrel yet. I just couldn't take it off because the boomstick was shooting so well!

I was gogging people through peep holes in bunkers and hitting any limb sticking out from trees, lol

The freak kit is a great idea, I haven't used it though, but you'll get the most accuracy with a paint to barrel match.

I just got a boomie this last month and I'm in love!

It's a ten inch brand new 2 piece and I haven't regretted the buy one bit.

It's the best interior finish I've ever seen, it's actually fairly quiet fo the short length/low porting, puts a three round burst withing a very small grouping, I'm getting good gas efficiency (much better than my stock), it shoots many types of paints well (even if they are a bit tight or small, I've shot em all great) and I still have the ability to change lengths and buy new backs for it (without wussy sleeves!)

Overall HPA's a better buy but I say if it's what you want, go for it!

yeah man, I'd suggest getting a nitro tank for that kinda money and a J&J ceramic (I have a boomstick and a ceramic for my classic mag, ceramic shoots almost as well and is lighter). Not to say that my 12" boomstick isn't the sexiest thing my mag has seen yet, but I am a sucker for the aestheticly pleasing 8).

You can find nitro tanks in the air systems forum for under 100 that are decent, plus mags hate CO2.
