    Micromag problems

I recently bought a used Micromag off Ebay, and I'm having a few problems.

1)The gun leaks internally from somewhere near the back, around the gas chamber area. I took the whole gun apart, replaced all the orings, and it still leaks, though not as badly.

2)The gun has pretty bad shoot-down during rapid fire. Even after only about 6-10 shots, there is noticable velocity drop-off.

3)The trigger pull is long and sloppy. I tried searching the internet for a trigger job website, but I couldn't find a site that works. Please point me in the right direction.

4)The valve on the gun is not stock, and I can't figure out what brand it is. Instead of a smooth cylinder, it has horizontal groozes milled into the top half of the body. I'm puzzled.

If you could help me out in any of these areas, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

    The leaking out the back:
Make sure the velocity is not up too high.

    Shoot down:
I am not sure, but it might have something to do with the aftermarket valve.

    Trigger Sloppy:
Welcome to the world of Micromags. They are all like the, If you are a handy type person and have access to a dril press you can install a set screw trigger stop. This helps alittle. Other than that, you pretty much have to live with it.

    Non-stock valve:
This is probably an ANS Phase II or what ever they are called.

if you put your finger over the hole in the back where you adjust the velocity and it stops the leak, then ether the velocity is too high or your reg piston is bad.

drop off is likely to be the reg seat, your tank, or a blockage in the lines or reg somewhere. or if you have a secondary reg, open it right up and see if that helps. the AIR valve wants about 800psi input pressure.

        Thanks for the help, everyone.

I played a few games with this gun yesterday, and discovered a problem much bigger than leaking or shoot-down. I was double-feeding and chopping left and right!

So I put the gun away, broke out the reliable old Model 98, and played the rest of the day with that.

Today, I replaced the ball detent spring with a cut-down ballpoint pen spring, and it seems to have fixed the problem. I think the old spring was just way too soft. I broke a ball, but the paint is total crap, and I think it broke in the barrel anyway (it didn't blow up inside the powerfeed like before).

But the leaking still puzzles me. It isn't a major leak--it's something that would take several weeks to drain a tank, and wouldn't be noticable during a day of play.

What should I replace? I noticed that within the AIR valve piston, there is a large set screw, a spring, and some kind of smaller piston. Is this the pressure relief valve that one of you mentioned? If so, is this what is leaking? What should I do to fix it?

the brass piece in the back with the screw is the reg piston. and yes it has a pressure relief. if it's dumping gas then it is probably gone. call AGD and order a replacement. no big deal. I find the best way to get it out is just get an Allen key that's the right size for the set screw, put it in the back, bend it to the side lightly and pull. if you do this right the reg piston should come right out into your hand.

For the shoot-down I recommend replacing the Regulator Seat. It's the Lil round thingie that snaps onto the reg section of the Valve when you unscrew it.

If you've already done that, I couldn't tell ya what to do.
