Need help w/LX and ReTro Valve

well, i just got a retro valve(used) and i put my old LX onto it. The first time i shot it, it worked fine, then it started to shoot halfway and then "abort" you could say and go back to starting position. i turned down the velocity and it still did it, but when i turned it up until it almost starts to leak, it stopped and shot fine w/o barrel. then i put my AA barrel on, pulled the trigger, and nothing happened. no hissing, no leaking, no slight movements of the bolt, NOTHING. im guessing the LX is sticking or something, but i have no clue. im new to LX's, and i dont know what shims or carriers are, but ive heard about them before. is that what might be the problem? do i need to oil orings? im using HPA btw.

gun setup: minimag body, LX, intelliframe, ReTro valve, HPA(if any of that helps find the problem)

So it's just a problem when the barrel is in? Have you checked the twist lock assembly and front frame screw? Oh and oiling the o-rings usually never hurts.

If the bolt still sticks w/ the barrel off you may need to go to the next larger carrier. The brass part w/ a black o-ring around it. Use the same white oring that fits in it into the next larger one. Check out, http://www.automags.org/forums/showt...threadid=40904 it has alot of good info

thx for the link, but it fires perfectly fine until i put the barrel on it, then it doesnt do anything. could it be because i have the large spring on it? should i cut of a coil or two from 1 end?

Go back to the small spring to start with. It will be easier to troubleshoot

the problem is i only have the medium spring. i took my gun apart and it has the .5 carrier in it w/2 shims. i made sure everything was in place too. i just cant figure out what the problem is.

and i was thinking it might have something to do with the sear assembly being too short or something, but then i realized that if that was the problem it wouldnt be shooting with the barrel off. i dont know its just a thoguht.

I've read the thread so far and one thing I have to ask is, did you try to place the bolt into the barrel with the bolt off of the valve? Lvl X's are larger and don't like smaller ID barrels. I wouldn't think its the AA barrel but you never know. Ensure the bolt will go into the first part of the barrel. If so then I'm as perplexed as you, if not then try a stock barrel or another that allows the bolt to go into it. Hope this helps. my 2 cents. Good Luck.

well, i took it out the LX and test fit it into the barrels and it fit. i gassed it up again and test fired it, then i put the AA barrel onto it, and it didnt shoot. then, i twisted it a little bit backwards (so that a ball could still feed no problem) and it shootsd perfectly fine. then i put the dye aluminum on and twisted it a little. nothing. i kept twisting ans shooting and every couple shots it would shoot, so im pretty sure it has something to do with the LX being too big. im going to sand down the front edge a tiny bit and see if that helps any.
