hpa tank to tank air transfer

    first off, is it possible.

I got a new tank, empty. i have my other hpa tank, which is filled to 2000 psi right now.

my air line on my mag, has a quick disconnect on the VALVE ONLY.

I was wondering, assuming the quick disconnect will fit properly on the fill nipple (i havent taken the tank home yet, got delivered to work) if I could put my tank into my on/off drop, then hook the quick disconnect to the fill nipple on the new tank, turn in the on/off, and have the air transfer into the new tank from the old one?

has anyone ever tried this before, is it a wise idea. I dont want to screw anything up on my new tank before I get to use it.

    thanks.

    susan.

It sounds like you're transfering air from a 2000psi filled screw-in tank to another? If that's the case you will only be able to put about 800psi into the new tank because that's all the screw-in tank will let out. I've done it before just to check hose fittings. Usually I still have air in my screw-in and not my adjustables and I need to check the setup on the guns w/ the adjustables. For me it's pretty much only good for a line testing like I mentioned, because I end up taking so much from the one tank to fill the other that there isn't alot left in either.
