How do you strip ano off a gun at home?

ano is a chemical process that is treated to the metal.
you can use high strength oven cleaner and steal wool, but you will scratch up the body(or whatever part) you are stripping. the only correct way is to use an acid bath and burn it off.
just out of curiosity, why do you want to strip the ano off?
