    RT on/off question

i as looking at the RT on/off assembly and i couldnt see how it actually holds air. when it is in the closed position it seems as if air can still get through the center holes. can somebody explain th functions of it? i learn well with diagrams. thanks in advance.

there's an oring inside the on/off housing that seals around the pin...
is that what you're getting at?

yeah but when i blew air through the RT valve and the on/off was in the closed position air was still going down the power tube.

        here look at this
it has a diagram of how everything works
it's a little confusing at first
i'm still not confident i completely understand it
the retro valve is an engineering masterpiece

i know that this is what it does but looking at the valve i dont know how it does this.

ok i think i get what you're saying...
            thing is
the on/off valve on an rt only shuts off the air from the port underneath where the pin sits

i could probably try to explain it further but it took me a long time to grasp everything that's going on
basically it probably doesn't work the way you think it does
it's much different than the classic valve's on/off

The flow of air always comes from the air port at the top of the on/off pin. In the off position, the large end of the pin seals the hole preventing air flow.

The other air port near the on/off top center holes is the pressure feedback to the regulator so the chamber only gets the required amount of preset pressure.

This how the retro valve utilizes input pressure to fill the chamber but shuts off at a lower preset level. The regulator actually terminates the flow of high pressure air, not the on/off pin. The on/off pin in the off position only prevents flow of high pressure air while the the valve pressure is below the preset value.

Hopefully this makes the retro on/off operation a little more clear.
