    Flatline Woes. On/off doesn't work

I just bought a used 68/4500 Flatline. The tank was described as having some fill nipple problems. I changed the o-ring on the one way insert in the quick disconnect and then went to have the tank filled. When we tried to put air into the tank with the on/off in the off position, air flows freely through the regulator.

    My questions

    1. Is this a common problem or has anyone encountered anything similar?
    2. Is the on/off a user servicable component?
    3. Will this Flatline rebuild kit work, even though it is described as being for the 3000 PSI model? If not, what parts do I need to rebuild a 4500 PSI Flatline?

    Many thanks in advance.

      It happens.

Drain the tank, then use a .050" allen wrench to undo the set screw holding on the on/off knob. Now, push out the on/off cam piece and you'll see a brass stem sticking out of the back half of the regulator. Grab onto that with some needle nose pliers and pull it out. Out with it should come an o-ring. That o-ring is either very dirty or cracked.

The 3K parts kit will give you the necessary o-rings to maintain your 4.5K FL spare the reg. seat.

Thanks BlackVCG! Is the o-ring that you mentioned the same thing as a Power Tube O-Ring from a Classic rebuild kit? I'm pretty sure it is but wanted to make sure. Is there any chance that I could damage the reg seat by changing this o-ring? I called AGD and Jon said that they are currently out of stock on the reg seats so I'm just trying to make sure I don't mess anything else up. Thanks again for the reply.
