Im Debating about getting an automag

Im thinking about getting an automag, I have a 99' Autococker and I dont like it anymore, because it always breaks and shoots horribly. I want to get an automag, but I dont know anything about them at all and i have a few questions.

    1. Do they always break?
    2. Are they low or high maintenence?
    3. On an Automag Rt/Pro what should i upgrade?
    4. Is this gun consistent?
    5. Is this gun worth the money?
    6. How often do you have to oil and mantain the gun's proformance

Sorry for all the questions I just wanna be sure I am buying the right gun and not another breaking piece of crap like my cocker is.

Guns usually don't "break" unless ya know, you take a hammer to them..
    1. Never
    2. Extremely Low
    3. You "Should"n't upgrade anything but most recommend:
    X-Valve
    Intelliframe
    Nitro
you'd be pretty set with that..
    4.Yes
    5.Yes
    6. 2-3 drops into the ASA before/after play, or as you feel necessacy. REALLY EASY TO MAINTAIN
    All Black Automag
    Flat Black Blade Intelliframe
    72cu/4500psi Crossfire Nitro Tank
    10" Dye Ultralight
    12" Dye Ultralight
    12" All American
    14" Tear Drop
    Macroline hose kit
    KAPP Drop Zone II
    CP Mini Gas-thru
    EVLution II
    X-valve
    ULT

Re: Im Debating about getting an automag

      First off, welcome to AO!

      1. Do they always break?

Not sure if you mean break as in the gun, or as in paint. They're very reliable, thanks to excellent build quality and they suffer no more paint breakage than any other marker. With Level 10 installed you should have a hard time chopping.

      2. Are they low or high maintenence?

Low - usually just need a clean and regular oiling. If you have a problem it's usually 1 o-ring that you'll need to replace and they're easy to troubleshoot.

      3. On an Automag Rt/Pro what should i upgrade?

If it's a brand new RT Pro, it should already come with an intelliframe and X-Valve (level 10 included), so you'd really only need to ensure that you're running HPA and then possibly look at cosmetic upgrades, like a ULE body.

      4. Is this gun consistent?

If you've got a reasonable air system and lube the gun reguarly then yes, they're usually very consistent.

      5. Is this gun worth the money?

Depends - some people want a gun with all the bells and whistles (electro trigger, IR link, voice prompts etc) and don't think a mechanical gun that costs as much as an RT Pro is good value. Personally I put build quality, reliability, performance and after sales support above toys, so I'd say yes, it's worth the money.

      6. How often do you have to oil and mantain the gun's proformance

Once you've got everything setup (level 10 tuning is the only fiddly thing you need to do), then it's just a case of oiling it before you play then cleaning and oiling after you've played. That's it.

Here's two reviews of the automag classic and the E-mag. Hope this helps.

My RT Pro's cleaning regimen was put some oil in the air line, gas it up, swish in warm water w/ a touch of soap. Rinse. Go outside and fire to work the oil through.

Yes. You CAN dunk your mag. (Not so if you have any electronics on it. Emag/Hyperframe or otherwise)

              1. Do they always break?

Im guessing you mean paint. Even before I upgraded to lvl X, I rarely broke paint.

              2. Are they low or high maintenence?

I'd say very low, especially compared to a cocker

              3. On an Automag Rt/Pro what should i upgrade?

Since the rt\pro comes with the I-frame I'd say upgrade to level 10 (not sure if it comes standard) and get a ULE body.

              4. Is this gun consistent?

Very. The rt-valve recharges faster than you'll shoot.

              5. Is this gun worth the money?

In my opinion, yes. You'll be able to shoot fast, with the upcoming ULE triger mod, you'll be able to lighten your trigger even more.

              6. How often do you have to oil and mantain the gun's proformance

I oil my mag before I play with maybe 2 drops in the air line. Then I fire a bit to get the oil thru my marker. After I'm done playing I wipe it down with water, put another drop of oil in and fire some more to get that thru the marker. That's about it. If you ever do have to take the valve out to replace a foamie or something, its really simple.

Both of my roomates have cockers and while I do like shooting them, I kinda giggle when they have to tinker with their timing or take apart the 3-way or something. The mag is so much easier to take apart imo.
              New Mag in the works.

Black ULE Body, Chrome I-Frame, Chrome Omega rail, X-valved mag.

Ice ULE Body, Black I-Frame, Black Omega rail, lvl 10 valve mag.

Its all a matter of opinion, looks like your questions have been answered so the best thing to do is to try one for your self, thats the only way you will ever know.
