Sear pin will not fit in rail

Bought a used rail, looks to be in excellent shape but the sear will not go in - the pin won't seat. Most of my other frames have a bit of a snap fit, but this one is tight. Any advice? There are no burrs or obvious problems with either part.

I have found there are 2 types of sear pins. The older style looks like a short black rod. The newer ones look like a chrome pill. The chrome pill type seems to fit in every rail I have ever tried, but the black rod type sometimes don't like to fit.

    What type do you have?

I had exactly the same problem and the solution was exactly what Blennidae said. :)

AGD must have slightly changed the design of their rails and sear pins at some point, as my black pin from my '93 mag wouldn't fit in a newer standard rail. The newer silver pins fit fine in both old and new rails - they've got more of a taper to the ends of the pin.

makes sense, the sear came out of a beater partsmag that must have been fairly old. I'll check the others to see if one has the newer pin.

        THanks
