    Clarification on Barrels for Mags

Ok, I've read through a chunk of the forum and I'm still a bit confused on barrel fittings. From what I understand, some mags have cocker threads now (like the x-mag), some still have mag threads. However, centerfeed bodies require different barrels than powerfeed bodies...what a mess.

I have an emag centerfeed and am just plain terrified to switch out the stock barrel Seems hard enough to find barrels with mag threads these days, much less make sure it's for a centerfeed.

Should I just go to Doc's and get an adapter that I know will fit my centerfeed and then go and get a 'cocker threaded barrel?

If I happen to end up with a barrel that only fits powerfeed emags, are there clear instructions for a mod to make it fit or is it just a bad idea?

    Thanks a ton in advance,
    Ben

The easiest way to get Vertical Mag barrels is to call the place you are ordering from and ask for them. You can also specify it in the little box they leave for you when you are ordering from their website.

Definetly Buy Docs Barrel Adapter! ITs a great tool and will really save everybody the hassle of looking for mag barrels and they all get to save some money buying new barrels!

To my Knowledge, there is no known mod that can get a powerfeed right or left barrel to fit a vertical one. HOWEVER there is a brand of barrels called Equation Barrels that are milled to fit Powerfeed Right/Left and Vertical mags. Its pretty sweet.

This domain name is available, own it today. Affordable payment options. Fast and professional service.

    Hope that helped you

There IS a mod to change a PF barrel to fit a Center feed. Problem is, most people aren't equipped for it. There's a guy in the Dealer Forums here that does it. Look him up. He takes the barrel and slots it to accept the Centerfeed.

I mod'd all three of my PF barrel to work with my CF body. 1/8" drill(or 1/8" end mill) and a drill press is all you need. drill a little divot in the center of the "T" milled into the barrel. no more "twist" lock, push on, pull off. works great. never had one problem with the barrel not staying in either.

            thanks

Thanks everyone, this has been really helpful. The only other question I had is if anyone knew of other places that sell adapters other than Doc's machine shop. It's in Alaska (I'm in NY), I can't get COD (in college), and they don't take credit cards...sounds like at least a one-month process.

            Thanks,
            Ben

there is no-one else I know of

just send him a MO USPS priority. costs $3.85 and it will be there in 3 days. then pay him to send it back that way. shouldn't be more than 1-2 weeks tops!
