    x-valve consistancy problems

I have had my x-valve for about 2 months now, and I love it. The only thing is, especially lately, my velocity is all over the place. I keep it well oiled, and use the #1 carrier with 1 shim and the shortest spring. I will chrono in (proper RT style) at 290 or so, shoot 200 shots, recheck my velocity and it will be around 310. I will adjust it down, play some more, check it again, and I am shooting hot. I also noticed that my shot to shot variances can be around +/- 8 or so. My classic could hold +/- 2 all the time. I have tried to eliminate some variables, by trying it with different paint, and spring lengths. It seems that the longer spring I use, the more it jumps around. I am running a centerflag preset with 750 psi output. I have also noticed sometimes that when I chrono it properly, my velocity can be lower than if I pull and release every shot. This is not always the case, it varies from day to day and game to game. Anyone had this happen to them?

I don't know, maybe I'll replace the reg o-ring and see if that will help. If anyone has any additional suggestions, I would appreciate them.

Try a different tank with 800+psi output

Level 10 bolts require more pressure from the bottle than non-LX bolts. I have an RT that won't fire consistently unless the output pressure of the bottle is 800+psi. The only exception is when I use a MacDev Conquest; they can be set a little lower than most bottles on my RT.

I don't know much about X-Valves, but I think their input pressure requirements are the same.

Of course, now you have an excuse to buy a new adjustable bottle!

The only other thing I can think of is to make sure your power tube tip is tightly (although not TOO tightly) screwed in.

      Good luck!

That's my two cents. Don't spend it all in one place.
