    Emag w/LVL10 won't fire

I played with my Emag w/LVL10 this weekend and it worked fine. Today I go to gas it up to do some trigger adjusting and it fired once and now I can't get it to fire at all. It did this last week too so I changed to a new o-ring and then it worked fine. This time I did everything except change the oring and it still won't work. I shouldn't have to replace the oring already since I only shot about 3/4 of a case on Sunday. I switched to a larger carrier and it leaked like a sieve. I put the original carrier back in and the gun won't fire. I've got 3 shims in too but that shouldn't make a difference. I pushed on the bolt with a squeegee just to make sure the bolt wasn't stuck and it didn't help. I oiled the gun before I shot that 3/4 case but it shouldn't need oil already should it ? I've never oiled it that much before. I've got plenty of air too. My battery is low but that shouldn't have any effect on anything since I'm trying to fire in manual.
The only thing I did today was to pull out 2 magnets in the rail to lighten the pull. I didn't mess with velocity either. Basically it's the same way it was set up on Sun except now it won't work.

Ok , this time I turned up the velocity enough to get the gun to fire but then it vents out the back. So I took out the bolt and switched to the shortest spring and now it fires everytime. What effect will the shortest spring have on shooting brittle paint ? I assume the bolt will hit harder now right ? And why all of a sudden does the cut spring not work when it's been working for the past 3 months ? What happens if I take out my shims ? I'm running 3 now .

You should oil the gun before every day of use. This is especially important until the level 10 carrier o-ring is totally broken in. If you have the correct carrier (which you seem to have) then sticking of the bolt usually indicates a lack of oil.

A lot of people don't even use shims in their setup. I use a couple, but I precisely set the vent position of my bolt so it vents on any stopage once the lip of the bolt passes the sear. All the shims do is change the vent position a fraction of a millimeter which is hardly noticeable anyway.

The shortest bolt spring on the level 10 bolt is still much softer than the same bolt spring on the level 7 bolt. Try shooting with a squeegie pushing on the bolt and if you get the courage, put your finger in the breach. This will give you an idea how hard the bolt hits. Even the shortest spring hits quite gently using the level 10 bolt.

How much better will my efficiency get using the shorter stock spring ?

I don't understand why the cut spring all of a sudden doesn't work when I've been using it since day 1. I've put probably 2 cases of paint through it without a problem, until now that is.

I'll oil it up and try it again with the cut spring to see if it works. Basically I oiled it up last time and shot 3/4 of a case through it. Today it won't work. So with figuring that way I'll have to re-oil after every 3/4 case then ? That seems like a lot to me !

How many shots should I shoot before the carrier oring is considered broken in ? Since I just put a new one in last week maybe it's not broken in enough yet.

On a day of play you can probably get a case of paint or more through your marker without oiling the level 10. When you sit the marker over night, some of the oil evaporates and you get sticking.

Break-in period varies from marker to marker, but the ones in my area took around 15000 shots to break the o-ring in completely.

The efficiency of the short spring is basically the same as with the stock level 7 setup. Longer springs apparently cause some inefficiencies, but I haven't noticed enough of a difference to comment on it myself. I'm guessing that the longer springs change the dynamics of the firing such that the proper optimum length of barrel is different. If you find the new optimum barrel length then I bet your efficiency won't decrease using the level 10.

How much harder is the bolt hitting the paint now that I'm using the shortest spring ? I can't get the gun to fire with the medium spring otherwise I'd compare the 2 springs myself.

I use the 0.5 carrier, 0 shims and the shortest spring. While I can, and have put my finger and fired, it has stung a bit. (Read: I definetly will NOT put my tongue in the breach) But, so far it hasn't chopped paint. (Evil, Chronic, Ultimate Chronic, PMI Premium) Fairly brittle stuff. I'd say you're fine. Then again, you could always try and stick a ball partially in the breech and fire.

I set them all up with the small spring...they still dont chop...
