Milling Question

[Newbie]

I wanted to do some custom work on my RT Pro, so the first thing on my list was to make it lighter. I noticed that the rail assembly that the mainbody sits on a one big hunk of metal (aluminum????). I was wondering if it would damage my gun in any way to mill out alot of that extra metal and leave just enough for my main body and valve to slide in a lock???
