    Galactic Systemz Z-Body & backspin

An upgrade I am considering, and largely the reason i favor the mag over a flatline 'cocker, is Galactic Systemz Z-body. I was wondering if anyone had heard of it, used it, seen it, or shot it. Basically, just want some info!
    • That stuipid "Square Peg" Single playing on 99x is awful
    • I guess you don't know what 99x is unless you live in the atlanta area
    • If you do, pm me and tell me where you play paintball!

Never used one but I'm pretty sure you need a large bore barrel to get it working good. Using "galactic" in a search might bring you info quicker, instead of waiting on us!

Yeah heard bout them but never shot one. Heard they work great if you tip the gun in either direction it will make the ball slice or hook. And the biggest thing is AGD says that level 10 bolts will NOT work with the galatic bodies. Because of a larger width to the level 10. As I said have never tried this but the info comes with the level 10 trouble shooting guide.

Small problem with them. Besides the over-tightening thing.

You must chronograph with the nub-piece backed ALL the way out! It's a safety issue that not all fields/refs know about. Luckily I do (I know a lot of chorno-cheats, it's amazing what people can come up with). Because some people would adjust it down to create drag at the chrono for lower speeds. Then adjust it out to increase their velocity and cheat!

But with it out and velocity at 280, you then need to adjust the nub to where you get effective backspin. And your velocity will drop the more you adjust it. So you can get backspin, but you'll have a slower velocity than everybody else on the field.

Overall the performance is good. Almost par with a Tippmann Flatline barrel, without the banana-porno look to it! Just not as practical as one would originally hope.

If you want it, go for it. You'll need a larger bore barrel than the paint for it to work properly, but it's decent. Expensive, but still fun.

Owned one, loved it. Lvl 7 Mag did not like the paint I was shooting tho.

If you play a lot of woodsball, I highly recommend it. You won't have to "lob" balls into tree branches and such anymore.

It'd be a good Idea for you to have a barrel kit. You want the ball to fit really loose, but not so loose you can fit 2 balls in, side by side. Exaggeration, yes, but you get the idea. You want it *just* loose enough that a ball will slide through, maybe get caught occasionally, when dropped through it. If it doesn't fit well, it won't be too accurate.

A Good combination would be Z-body, Barrel kit, Y-frame + X-valve, and eventually ULE Trigger. It'd probably be a good Idea for you to build the gun yourself if you're relativly mechanically-inclined.

Come to think of it, If you tossed on a force-feed loader such as a halo, you should be able to tilt the gun and get some nice, consistant curve-balls

I really liked mine, but I traded it off to go Warp.

About the level 10 not fitting, i read a post where someone got the bolt in by shaving a bit off the tip, don't know the details but its not a big deal.

I have had a z-body for about a year and really like it. The backspin is great because its adjustable. I dial in just enough to flatten out my shots, that makes it great for in the woods. I never really experienced any accuracy problems with it. I use a med bore TASO 8" barrel with bigball and never have any complaints. I also have a large bore SP AA that works fine too.

I have a cocker Z barrel. Terry at g3pb.com said they had to order about 500 of them to have them made. I think he said he still had TONS left when i ordered mine last month. Its .700 bore I'd recommend everyone buy one for totally crappy paint

Any really large-bore barrel will suffice to make the backspin work. I've had excellent results with my 12" Lapco Bigshot .697

I'm considering buying a St!ffi... Check it out:

                    Comparison to a flatline

I currently own a flatline...and It can be an absolute pain in the neck to adjust. Is the z-body particularly difficult...? My main annoyance with the flatline has always been getting it centered vertically so the balls don't curve when the marker is straight up and down...

Nope, the paintballs graze the rubber backspin pad before they even enter the barrel, so there's no alignment to be done at all. Ya just turn the thumbscrew to the right for more spin, left for less. Couldn't be any easier! It's cool to shoot a string of paint while turning the dial at the same time so you can see what it's doing to your trajectory. It's also fun to dial in a bunch of spin, and tilt your marker to the side so that the paintballs curve AROUND bunkers! heheh

Additionally, I had no problem whatsoever fitting my X-Valve into the Z-Body. I wonder if AGD decided to take that extra .005" off the circumference of the bolt so that it'd work, or if my particular Z was just that much out of tolerance. Whatever the case, it worked for me!

I have a Z-body and I shoot a 8" med bore TASO barrel with either bigball or proball and the spin effect is great! I also have a .70 SP AA that works well too. I really can't complain... i think its an awesome upgrade. It is on the pricey side though.
