    tippmann/cocker

alright, i was bored yesturday, and i saw the guy trying 2 turn his rebel into a cocker, and i thought, man it would be sweet 2 turn a tippmann model 98 into a closed bolt cocker. and i thought bout it, and i dont think it woould be 2 hard. but i have a few questions. I know generally, how a cocker works. but i have 2 questions, the little hose that goes into the 3-way....does that have a constant supply of air? or is air pushed into it only wen the trigger is pulled? and if it does have a constant supply, how could i tap into the tippmann valve 2 run a hose from that into the 3-way, so i have constant air supply into the 3-way(and then 2 the ram, wich is connected 2 the front bolt, and the hammer and the front bolt will be disconnected.) if any1 could get back 2 me with that info, it would be great:)

    first, welcome to AO

seconds, maybe try a response trigger power tube (it has an air port in it)

that is if it needs air when when fired

i know 98s but not cockers..

Tap the pneumatics off of the bottomline.

I 'cockered a PGP, but it didn't work too well so I took it back apart... I still have the body laying around here somewhere. Not nearly as pretty as the Palmer's units.

ok, i got it now. i have the vertical adapter wioth t fitting. im ganna connect the sledge hammer reg 2 that, and run a hose 2 the 3-way, and some how hook up the 3 way 2 the trigger, and then mill a grrove in the top of the gun above the front bolt, and hook up the rm to the bolt, and the 3-way 2 the ram, it should work in theory, but its ganna take a ot of experimenting and tweaking

If my way of thinking is correct, you're going to have to slot the hammer for it to be properly disconnected from the bolt. That way, as the bolt cycles, it will push the hammer back but the bolt will be free to return to battery. The slot will have to run from the linkage rod hole forward to the front of the hammer, so the linkage arm can be used to recock the hammer.

You've probably figured this out by now though.

i may have 2 do that, but i was thinking that i will keep the gun still kind of a blowback, in that the front bolt, and hammer will be completly disconnected, so this is how it will work,
              1. trigger pulled
2.hammer is pushed forward by main spring
              4. hammer hits valve, shooting ball, and the valve will still blow the hammer back 2 recocking position. and right after this this front bolt is pulled back by the ram, and a new ball is brought into the chamber
              5. trigger is released, front bolt returns 2 firing position

this is not EXCACLY like an autococker i know, cus on an autococker the ram recocks the hammer, and pulls the bolt forward and back. but this is still a closed bolt design.

some people just have way to much time on their hands

If we all converted Rate of Fire from BPS to $/Minute, we would all play stock.

How do you plan on actuating the 3way?

On my PGP/cocker I just used a 'cocker frame, but it's not that easy on an M98/98C.

right now im thinking about mounting the 3-way under the trigger frame like 2 inches, then im ganna hook an actuating rod (paper clip) on 2 the triiger, and have it going straight down, and hooked on 2 the 3 way, therfore i can still keep a pretty short trigger pull. but i have a question, wat is the resting position on the 3-way? and how far does it have 2 come out? until it stops?

resting position is with the stem pushed into the body. It has to move as far as it will go, generally about 3/16" (guess, I'll measure it if you want an exact number)

You might want two or three feet, just to have enough extra to play around with.

ya i got 2 feet, i think, but they were outta stock, like everywhere for some reason, so its ganna be a while before i can get the whole thing complete, but 2marrow im ganna set up the 3-way 2 the trigger, and start the ram setup 2 the front bolt.
